Happy FAWM Fun To All!
This is my 10th *Gasp!* year here.
I've enjoyed each and every minute.
I am bringing a real bass to the studio this year, after grabbing up a pre-inflation Epiphone Viola , modeled after the McCartney Hofner.
Other instruments of note:
Yamaha digital piano, Hammond organ, Kontakt Komplete Suite, Martin Backpacker guitar, Merlin Seagull, and custom Cigar Box Guitar, wash tub bass.

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Tired of the Blues'!

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 2022

    :)

  • @billwhite51 Mar 2022

thanks for the cecil taylor reference, unit struc tures was a bif influence on me as a teen, as well as paul bley, i started playing piano after attending the concert which yielded several tracks for mr, joy. i finally got to see cecil taylor in 2008. other infliences i heard live as a teen were sun ra, frank zappa, miles davis, bill evans, charles lloyd, and walter zuber armstrong

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 2022

Thank you so much Mike for your generous comments and support.

  • @kristi  Mar 2022

Hi Mike, I just listened to Birds...I have to say it's so very heartfelt! I like the piano and your vocal comes across so sincere....quite touching! Thank you!

  • @nadine Mar 2022

No worries, nobody knew about that. I was not able to listen on phone, so I tried the computer today and arghs. Last year I had serious problems with people linking to bandcamp, but this seemed to work somehow.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

Hey Mike, I got problems listening to your demos. The google drive is loading sooooooo slow and interrupts :( Is there any way to upload smaller files on a different site next year?

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks a lot for your comment on "She's contemplating". I usually don't do and listen to singer-songwriting and murder ballads but I tried to do something completely different by joining the rip off challenge and writing a song in the style of @wacha. I still don't feel confident with sparse arrangements and my playing is too basic to try for real.

  • @kristi  Feb 2022

Hi Mike! Yeah, sure! (on my skirmish lyric)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Sounds cool :) I'll send you the download link to the full quality backing. Take your time. FAWM is almost over, we're all done... and we will re-record some parts. Don't forget to take a look outside the rabbit hole lol :D

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Our blues draft is online now: https://fawm.org/songs/135879/
Please let us know if you're interested to join with vocals and lyrics. Absolutely no hurry!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Hey Mike, thanks for your kind words!
I'm glad you enjoyed "Good Morning Blues". @deadhead did a great improv on a melody prompt and we added more instruments. I'm happy you enjoyed!

I won't join 50/90. Same issue as last year: Too many projects in parallel, this year even more cause my FAWM has been hyperactive and there are 3 songs left from 2021.

I'm touched that you ask for a jazz improv but I am not sure if I could nail this technically. I still have real problems with tension chords on piano and I just started pentatonic improvisation on guitar. It's easier for me to add something on top than being the main instrument and continue a progression. Guess I need more time to develop some basics.

OK then I'll contact you concerning vocals asap. No obligation, take a listen and decide :-)

  • @karlsburg25  Feb 2022

dance floor days are still around Michael ;-)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Hey! Sorry I haven't forgot, I'm just busy busy busy cause everything delayed. Is it OK when I send you a demo of the song this week before I upload and you give a short yay or nay on singing? We do the recording after FAWM in a slower pace.

  • @writeandwrong  Feb 2022

Thanks for the collab, Mike! Love the piano work! Really got the point across!! :)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

It's encouraging when those who have been "through it" share their wisdom to help others "through it". I really like Tolle for this reason. Thanks @jamkar!

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

Hi @jamkar The Work by Byron Katie is what reminds me of Tolle. I hope you enjoy!

  • @writeandwrong  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind comments on Reunited. Of course, I'd love to hear what you do with it. Thanks :)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Hey Mike, are you open for collabs this FAWM? I'm working on a track with @gm7 that could be interesting for you. We're still recording a demo, I'm just curious. :)
