My first FAWM! Still learning the ropes.

I write lyrics-only, either lyrics-first or lyrics to fit to your top-line melody--much easier and faster for me! I like country, pop, jazz--"songs of life."

Thank you (very belatedly) for your kind words on myself and Vom's collab! I do apologise for taking so long to get back to you (and loads of other people). I have a weird fear of replying to people online sometimes. I don't know if you've heard the REM song "9-9"? The final words (and I think the whole song) sort of explain it.

  • @oswlek Mar 2022

Thank you for giving "Tiny Grass" a whirl and for leaving such a kind comment, Patty. You were prolific this FAWM!

  • @katestantonsings  Mar 2022

Thank you, Patty! Likewise. I've had pleasant experiences collaborating with you and Joey! You had a brilliant FAWM. I hope you get some quality time on the greens this spring :)! Looking forward to hearing more from you...

  • @jeff9  Mar 2022

So glad you enjoyed my treatment of @donna's "The Waltz", Patty. It's a very simple little thing, but maybe my favorite one to sing of the songs on my list this year.

  • @jeff9  Mar 2022

Thank you, dear Patty, for the nice comment on Window To Your Soul. Glad you're touring around on FAWM in March to do some listening. I keep intending to do some of that myself.

  • @angelinapowersuit Mar 2022

Thanks so much for your comments on "Details," it's so true, my lyrics are real and honest to a fault, haha. So glad we've connected!

  • @andrea  Mar 2022

Thanks, Patty, for all your wonderful comments. Your support and thoughtful comments mean a lot to me. I had a great time participating in FAWM. I hope you did too :)

  • @trebled  Mar 2022

Thank you for your very kind words about my songs. And yes - the ukulele does have a bit of an image problem, but it’s an amazingly versatile instrument. I mainly play the deeper baritone uke, and it fits in really well with a lot of my synth and keyboard music. Thanks so much again! :-)

  • @crisp1  Mar 2022

Thanks for your sweet comments, Patty! Give me a few days and I'll come back to listen to more of your collabs. I need to rest a bit! Hope you had fun -- looks like you got a lot done!

  • @davidtaro  Mar 2022

Aw, thank you for the kind comments, Patty!!

  • @oswlek Mar 2022

Looks like you had a prolific FAWM, Patty. I'll be back later to dig into it a bit. ;)

  • @celineellis  Mar 2022

Hey Patty - im sorry i didnt get around to doing anything with the lyrics you suggested for me. I had so much on this month with FAWM and outside FAWM with gigs and EP release preparation. theres always net year

  • @edward9thstreet Mar 2022

Thank you, Patty, for the listen and kind comments. I really appreciate it, and great job with the awesome lyrics you craft. I'll be checking out more in the next few weeks.

  • @natalie  Mar 2022

Hi, Patty! Thanks for your invitation to talk about collaborating on a song together. I love your lyrics! I've sent you an email. Looking forward to hearing from you. Congrats on a super-productive FAWM!

  • @nancycunning  Feb 2022

I made a recording of My American Hero (Dream Him Home)
I'm in love with the song. Thank you for letting me play with it. I'll send you the link and the lyrics in an email and you can decide if you'd like me to post it.

  • @jeff9  Feb 2022

Oh, wow. Thanks so much, Patty, for all your kind comments on my stuff. I'm having a ball FAWMing this year. Trying to crank out one or two more today under the wire if my brain will cooperate.

  • @nancycunning  Feb 2022

@greengrassgirl - I love your My American Hero song so much that I started playing with it last night, trying to sing it. I've probably sung it 20 times now, and I think I still haven't made it through without crying. It's not finished, and I'm likely to be super-skirmishing all weekend. (I think this is your first year too, so did you know there are skirmishes every two hours all weekend? It's super fun to do. I've been mostly posting just lyrics, and you get a lot of people to see them because they're all writing to the same prompt. Here's the over arching link that has times and tags. The next one starts in 6. minutes....https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12821/).

All that is to say that I'm planning to get back to mucking with your song on Monday. I've always meant to write a song that resonated for my cousins about that experience. It's fun to try it starting from your lyrics. I'll plan to email you what I get to even if it's after Monday.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 2022

As a lyricist you know that feeling when you really hit something that you think is good! Often you work really hard and other times they just jump at you That conjugation just appeared (a very old memory) and made me smile straight way, i wondered if anyone would like it so thx for mentioning it!

  • @n24  Feb 2022

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments! I really appreciate your very kind feedback :)

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

Thank you for swinging by and checking out the songs, Patty. Given how prolific you are, finding the 7 minutes couldn't have been easy! :)

  • @dukongp100 Feb 2022

hiya thanks for your nice comment on my profile.. i think the distinction i make between not playing/playing an instrument could be considered crude, but if i do something regular enough to know somewhat (lol) what im doing, i consider it something i can do. :) its like a shift in thinking from all or nothing, to emough is enough. as in, i play guitar and keyboard enough to say that i do those things! like how you write, id say you write ;) you are a writer! i hope you have a lovely rest of fawm, dont know what i have planned yet for the rest of it, im quite chill just vibin rn

  • @andygetch  Feb 2022

On no worries at all and congratulations on already crossing the finish line!

  • @n24  Feb 2022

Oh no worries! I was replying on my own songs earlier in the month too! David had to point it out to me :p it’s a real banger of a song that one you did a great job!

  • @fonte  Feb 2022

Ha no need to apologise :-) it’s always a pretty Crazy month trying to keep up with it all, you’re bound to start talking to yourself at some point ;-)
I’m loving your lyrics btw so talented, that is the part that always gives me the most problems!

  • @andygriff  Feb 2022

Hey hey there's no such thing as "just the writer" - without the writer there's no song in the first place :)

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2022

You are very welcome. Thank you for your kind visit.

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Safe in Your Arms'!

  • @cheslain  Feb 2022

Much appreciated. FAWM is such a cool rabbit hole where you find all kinds of interesting stuff just by clicking on names. It's kind of sad that we probably miss a lot of really cool pieces too, given the volume.

  • @brisk Feb 2022

Hello, thanks for being nice about my songs! I'm not sure what the POV is in those songs really. I take a very loose approach to words in songs, as is probably evident. They are the hardest part, so sometimes I just have to write anything to write something.
Really liked that collab; it was such fun. I'll try to give some of yours a reciprocal listen today while I'm working. Thanks.

  • @mariekevinkmusic  Feb 2022

Thanks for listening to my song. I'd love to collab and sing one of your songs.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 2022

I have know Susan for a while and i encouraged her to come here probably last year she is very good!

  • @sheslin  Feb 2022

Patty I am so glad you like My Man Of Few Words! I love the lyrics so much and really wanted to do them justice. I did not have to alter a single word, which for me is a first! Thank you for this song.

  • @jeff9  Feb 2022

Thank you, Patty, for checking out The Window To Your Soul and for your encouraging comments.

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

Thank you so much, Patty! Your comments were the first thing I read this morning. :) Very encouraging and thoughtful! I hope we can work together again very soon.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my lyrics and collaborations. You support and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated :)

  • @gm7  Feb 2022

Hi Patty. Thx for the kind words on Prairie Payer...Kate did a wonderful job as always.

  • @ineloquentsd  Feb 2022

Wow, you are so incredibly talented. Pretty much every set of lyrics I see on this page comes with a tune set to play in my head. That is such strong writing. I would be so honored if you’d let me have a run at any of them, but I think I might have a particularly strong treatment for “Human Condition.” May I pitch you a fast-paced, light-hearted swing number in 6/8 time signature with all the brass? :D

  • @geoff61 Feb 2022

Good to see you here Patty :-)

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

Colleen, I am delighted with your recording of Friendship Hurts if You Do It Right. I couldn't be happier that you threw yourself into this one. Thank you!

  • @colgoo  Feb 2022

Our recording is up….as well as my four other demos. Glitchy… so I may fix later, but at least you can get an idea of the direction I went.

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listens and comments!

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

    Welcome to FAWM!

  • @daveyboy103  Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind words on The Truth

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

Thank you for your kind words on my collabs, Patty! I second @chroes below. Your lyrics and musicality with language are both poetic and beautiful.

  • @chroes  Feb 2022

Hi Patty! Thank you so much for your kind words, I feel humbled. Your lyrics are beautiful, they are so poetic!
Thank you for considering me for a collab! My process is usually the other way around, though, I need a melody first. Sometimes when I read lyrics, I instantly have an idea how the song should progress. Others take their sweet time. I am still waiting for a melody or chord progression for "Blue and Green". I'm sorry I can't guarantee that it'll show up, but I'll keep trying!

  • @sorby69  Feb 2022

Hi there Patty! Thanks for your kind words - great to meet you

  • @celineellis  Feb 2022

thank you so much for your kind words and for listening to my songs! I always appreciate when folks recommend me to others as well, so thank you!!

  • @jeff9  Feb 2022

Hi, Patty! Didn’t recognize you in this disguise, but I would’ve guessed if I’d checked out any of your fine lyrics, which I’ll do post haste.

Thanks for the comment on What About Me.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Thanks, Patty, for you super kind comments. I am hosting the final superskirmish today in 15 or so minutes. Interested?

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

@azraelarmond33 What a wonderful thing to hear. Thank you. I am using this FAWM opportunity to finally finish some old lyrics that have been languishing, and well as writing brand new ones. So exciting to see other people's work and be inspired.

  • @azraelarmond33 Feb 2022

Just wanted to say as a fellow fawmling I am inspired by both the quality and quantity of your work. You rock!

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind comments on Full Throttle Ahead. I like those particular lines myself.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment on "Skyscraper"! FAWM is a good place to collab. I found lots of like-minded people here. Give it a try! I highly recommend to use hastags like #needs-music , #needs-collab, #needs-vocals and genres to find people. Some FAWMers look for hashtags to find collabs.

  • @paulharrison  Feb 2022

You are crankin' them out, aren't you ggg? I'll come back to them to see if I have some music in need of lyrics. Thanks for your comments on my Confidently Wrong and noticing something we tried hard to avoid....i.e., being preachy.

  • @wacha  Feb 2022

    Congratulations on your win!

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

Thanks @max I may have a few more lyrics in me, but there's a difference between posting 14 lyrics and having 14 songs! I'm hoping the more I post here, the greater the chances of" Someone liking Something!" :)

  • @max  Feb 2022

    Congrats on reaching 14 !

  • @rdavis1962 Feb 2022

Green grass Girl. I like your sultry lyrics of a Man I don't know. I'm gonna post a first pass at the chorus (by no means a finished melody). If you like what I sent then email me at [email protected] and we could discuss working on this one.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Thanks Patty for checking out Beautiful People Do Ugly Things. The bridge is probably my favorite part.

  • @bradbrubaker  Feb 2022

Thank you so much! Yes, I am quite proud of "The Late."

  • @monty  Feb 2022

Wow,. what a start. Thanks for checking out some of my music. I generally don't sing because I have a crappy singing voice.

  • @gm7  Feb 2022

Thx Patty. Going to listen to Hit Man now.

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

rbmarty, Thank you for your compliments on my lyrics. Yes, I would love to hear your music, and a top-line melody would be great. That way I can make sure the words fit just right. I'll respond to your email.

    Thanks!

  • @geoff61 Feb 2022

thank you regarding my lyric, i will get to read and listen to other peoples posts later today.

  • @rbmarty000 Feb 2022

I would like to try some of your song.. I think your lyrics are interesting and easily adapted to music. I have some tunes if you are interested in putting music to them.. I can send a top line melody chart so you can scansion correctly. :

  • @colgoo  Feb 2022

Welcome, Patty….Still singing the songs we collaborated on for 50/90. I would love to work with you again.
