Influences: Steely Dan, Incubus, Beatles, Bowie, J. Mayer, Yes, ELO, Moody Blue, REM, Crowded House
This is my 3rd FAWM..so i am a Covid19 baby, as it were.
Over the past 2 year I have had some wonderful collabs...just another way to expand your musical horizons and meet some super great artists.
Mainly a guitar player BUT during Covid19 shut downs etc. I have been learning/practicing the piano and bass. The plan is to incorporate these instruments into my music production, especially the piano. I usually write/start songs on a guitar but this year i am going to use the piano as the main "starting" point for a song creation...we will see!
I record at my small home studio 14'x14' using Studio One Pro 5.5 with a Steinberg UR 4i6 audio interface and do my own mixing and mastering. i am mainly a guitar and bass player but i do use the keys now and then.
I made the commitment to write more lyrics in the past few years and it's a slow learning process but fun.
Main guitars are:
Fender 1997 stock tele
Epiphone Mark II
Red Squire Strat
First Act electric modified (painted matt black, a new Seymore Duncan humbucker and pots)
Fender Jag bass(my daughter gave me)
D16 Martin Acoustic
114ce Taylor Acoustic
An old teardrop Mandolin (circa 1910).
Amps:
1998 Fender Ultra 112Plus amp
2012 Fender Acoustasonic amp
2009 Washburn bass amp
Big Influence these days:
I have been listening to Cory Wong over the last few years and maybe I will do a funky song...my fav type of music to get you on your feet and dancing.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment on Executive Dysfunction. Really appreciate it. And congratulations on a suiccessful FAWM>
I hope Jamie recovers soon!! Be safe. Speak soon!
Thank you, G! I'll have my ear on watch for yours :) I hope you're doing well! I enjoy checking in from time to time. Keep rocking...
Thanks for listening to and commenting on "armor" even with the demo issues! much appreciated!
Thanks for the listen and kind comment on "Disintegration". I appreciate it.
Thank you so much for your comment! :) I’ll miss the community so much!
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Tired of the Blues'!
Thank you so much for your kind words about my Fairytales song!
Thank you Garry. My Dad was with me when we went to Renews in 2010. I'll have to bring a little bit of him back with me when I return (and we have tea)
Hope I can check in tues! And hope I can hit just a little more from your board before the site closes!
Thank you for your interest. I'm looking forward to hearing/reading the contributions to the project. Please feel free to contact me via the contact button.
Nadia
Thanks for listening to Neandertalersorgen - i am proud to say: I did the bass :-))
Thanks so much for your comments on Southbound Train. I must confess that the "bass" part was done on a keyboard, but my son left his old bass in his room so that's my assignment for this summer! Thanks again for your encouragement. I have another "bluegrass" song, A Series of Highly Unfortunate Events, which is basically the FAWM version of "the dog ate my homework". Got brave on that one and tried some harmony.
Garry, yes we need to do a collab (50/90?) and we will definitely meet as I have to get back to Newfoundland soon. I have more research I need to do up there, and it's just such a cool place!
Thanks Garry, It's been a difficult week. It seems like my father is recovering, and with an uncertain future. We shall see what happens.
Thanks for the great feedback on Let That be Enough, great words and so easy to work with like all Liz's lyrics,
Your Martin is calling your name! I had so much fun this FAWM. Another collab for 50/90? I’ve been trying to rest, but I don’t like to sit still for long :) I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of your tunes! Promise you’ll play Butterfly Dance outdoors on a sunny day?!
Thanks Garry! Sorry you couldn't get into the reception! Not sure what was going on as you made it in the last time!
:)
Thanks a lot :D
As I was at the doctor's office, I was only there a total of about 40 minutes. I think there were about 15 or so people.
Dude, you are too kind and I thank you for all the nice comments about "Grieving", "The Waltz" and "What About Me". Might kind of you to wade through that many of my pieces!
Hey Garry, a collaboration would be fun. Lots of options...
Thanks for your kind words on the orchestral piece I contributed to! It was fun doing it - feel free to reach out if you need a flute next year!
Garry, thank you so much for your encouraging words and laughter. I love our collab! Until 50/90 my dear friend!!! Keep rocking...
Garry, thank you for your well wishes. i also wish the best for you and yours, and look forward to july when we can collaborate some more, little gerrie was a gas.
Thanks for checking out more of my posts. So pleased that you enjoyed both The Window to Your Soul and One week Every Year! I was very fortunate to find such amazing collaborators.
Thanks for your very kind comments on I Don't Want to Talk and If I Could Change the World :)
Thanks for the comments on several of my songs! Re: "Wireweaver's Theme", cyberpunk is more like a setting and not a musical genre, cfr. steampunk. Musically the song would probably be best described as synthwave.
Hahah, I hope your amazement about my vocals on "Florida Man" was positive! :D Cheers for the comment!
I do not work tomorrow ;-) Ehm. Today.
People love our track. That's all your fault :-P
Thanks @gm7 for your lovely comment on Badtown. Will be back to listen to more of yours this month for sure.
I’ve got an alarm set!
UP THE WATCH
DOWN THE HATCH!
Well... I am probably the only BW Piper on this board... I have a bunch of original #bagpipe tunes I composed and recorded... just doing some production now...
Thank you for listening and the comment on Open your window.
Aye laddie!
Thanks gm7! Glad you liked my ghost song. I'm actually using a three-string partial Capo on the 7th fret in standard, so it gives me that drop D sound! That's why I love them so much. You get those really cool voicings and open bass strings! I'm away from my guitar but will double check that it's the seventh and confirm with you.
Haha. I just noticed that there are at least two songs called like that but the sound is innovative!
Dankeschön :-)
Thanks for such a nice comment on "Everybody's Singin' the Blues." I am a huge Blues fan and listener to classic blues.
You too, blues buddy :)
Maybe someday I'm good enough to record more stuff on my own. But I'm struggling real hard with a gap of 18 years in between production / songwriting and performance. I think that I need 3-5 years of practise to reach the lower boundary of recording ready.
There are people who enjoy themselves in getting their 14 songs done on their smartphone and hiding them in their drawers. But I'm not the kind. I enjoy the rabbit hole of pushing the quality of my productions to the max. This is my personal challenge :)
I am sure because I already used gate, eq, compressor and pitch correction tools. This is the limit of my gear and voice. And it just doesn't match my other songs. I need more practise and a better microphone. I'm speaking as who is interested in producing radio quality songs. Stuff I can show people without being embarrassed. If it's just about ne and my 5 friends I wouldn't care.
No I didn't. Well some guys received some demos per mail after asking. Garry, you pushed me real hard to try. But I still won't release any of my songs as main vocalist. It's not the quality I need for my productions neither in recording nor performance.
Thanks a lot! Break out from what exactly? I feel like my musical breakout already happened last year *thinking*
Wow, you have been crazy busy and productive! I'm happy for you. No worries on however that turns out....I'm happy that I could do something for you! Best to you....
Thanks a lot, Garry. Jordan has one of the greatest power metal voices I heard on FAWM. It was very hard for me to sing the background vocals, I'm pushing too hard and my microphone just sucks. Honestly.
Dude thanks so much! That means a lot!
Sounded so good. You guys really spiced that song up. Shouldn’t have done such a good job AND said it was fun…now I’m gonna be hitting you up even more!
Dude what were you playing your guitar through on the intro to instant gratification? That guitar sound was nuts!! Thanks again for jammin by the way! You’re a mega talent!!im not worthyyyy!!!!
@gm7 Thanks for the kind words word about The Perfect Band. I'm now working more on it. I really want to finish it. Made some changes and such. The new guitar is a PRS Custom 24, from 2019, that I bought second-hand. It's quite comfortable for my hands and the sound for rock is great.
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Fit right in". I have trouble with sparse arrangements cause my performing is not good enough to pull that off. I'm glad that David helped on the backing, he's a way better instrumentalist! And with Kates vocals this gonna be a gemstone when done :-)
Also congrats on that trophy!
I just like to write about what songs make me feel. lol
That Cool Cool Ways song just took me to specific memories of better times (i wasn't around in the 70s, but watching those movies made me remember my childhood, which were better times)
be there!
Hey you've made it congrats!
Let me sit and whine a bit first—then I’ll get up! Lol
Congrats on hitting the finish line, Garry!! I’ve passed out face down on the pavement, but my forehead crossed the line:) it counts! Have a beautiful week full of music!
^///^ more chatty stuff via mail.
Hey Gm7
Thanks so much for your more than kind comments on Never Surprise Me, m collab with @donna . I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Donna's lyrics constantly challenge me musically, and has me exploring new sonic territory. This is my favorite playground! Thanks for stopping by and congrats on such an amazing volume of work!
You’re right! I ran hurdles for 3 years. I got this!!! Lol (I’m exhausted)
Thanks for the laughs and all the encouragement :D I hope to hear more from you, too!
I’m struggling, G. I may need someone to pick me up and carry me over the finish line!!!
Oh really? Thanks, I'm blushed all over. I'm not a big fan of my singing voice, cause my main register is nasal and I have a very bad passagio where my voice is either rough or church choir like (see Dorian Gray backing vocals). My analysis tools say, that my singing is very off pitch. I cannot even apply solid correction without making it sound weird. Don't know how I should ever learn to sing in pitch when I'm not able to hear when I'm flat.
I had to look up that term. Lool :D I don't smoke, but I didn't take myself serious in that morph challenge. Just a tiny uninspired song lol :D
Thanks Garry!
Thank you, I'll check asap. I have too much running today. My morph chain just arrived so I'll write my last song for this FAWM until my mailbox crashes because of my collabs.
Haha! Yes, love that song. I watched it on fawm talk. It would be pretty darn nice to hole away for weeks at a time in a recording studio only to emerge for food (that someone else prepares of course)!! Have a fun week!
I was always a sprinter in track! Gotta learn how to run long distance :)
Lol I was up all night so when I woke up I was in a panic when I saw that. Was scrambling to figure it out
He hit me back he got the email
My spooky haunted banjo song is born. It was fun to see you all and be on the ground floor of that challenge being born. Smiling…
Hey Garry, I like what you did with the vocals! Gives it a trippy sound that is indeed quite cool!
It's stormy. I can't sleep.

One of the best!!
Garry, Thanks for your enthusiasm for In Love All Alone. It was a really fun collab for me because all I had to do was write a lyric and send it to Gwyn and Georgie! They made it all come alive and now we have a great song! They produced it in exactly the style I had in mind, and I couldn't be happier! Glad you enjoyed it, too.
“Going back for seconds...i don't care if my A1C spikes.” Haha! Now that’s truly “Dancing Your Cares Away”!! :)
Thanks also for the comment on "At your command". Chris lyrics inspired me a lot on this arrangement so the kudos go to him!
Thanks for your comment in "Under". I'm glad you enjoyed but we haven't done yet. Maybe we make it a bit longer and I also plan to redo with real guitars and bass. First time I worked with weird signatures and it's been so fun! I totally dig Chris performance
Thank you, G! :)
That sounds like a plan. I'll try to do something tomorrow night or Friday.
Well I’ll watch for the next one!
Did I miss it? Lol I was watching while working
Thanks Garry! You’re the man! I dig working with you as well! Fun fun fun!
Start in 4.5 hrs
Under Forum FAWMtalk
Cool where do I find that? Lol I’m dumb
I was just reading through your gear I’m so jealous u have a jag bass!!! I have a bass vi which is sorta like a jag bass but still. And we’re tele bros…that must be why I like you so much…and we both fix up cheapos and make em cool!
That’s cool with me it’s download enabled
Vocal tracks sent your way!
w1n did a great job with lovina's lyric for sure!
Thanks for checking out Starman Shall Die. Glad you liked it!
