:) YOU FREAKING ROCK!
do you want your dialogue parts included in the lyrics? If so, write up Bride's side for me and if you've still got them, the news copy. and I'll include them on the fawm song page and bandcamp song page.
yeah! I agree :)
Brutal and weird, painful and sweet- what an accurate description of my song! Thank you!
Thank you for the kind comments
That poor cajon has already had such a rough life. It was used "correctly" for a little while, then turned into a tunable speaker cabinet, back into a seat/cajon until I heel kicked a hole in its tappa or whatever its soundboard is called being a little overzealous last 50/90. Now I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen, but it'll be "something" :D
Haha! I started fixing a roof on a friends mom's old barn today and I found an old rusted probably Korean war era ammo canister she graciously let me have. It was the missing piece for my cajon/lapsteel project! So I was stoked and immediately started singing that tune :D
Awww GA!!!
Wow, you must have listened to it right after I posted it.
Thank you for pulling the silly out of me as I’m normally more reserved. Thank you for including me on that FAWMlab project. Turned out pretty amazing. And thank you for such a fun time this year. Muah!
I'm glad we got to work on TWO tapes together! You were so good on both of them. And thank you for the button and the sticker :D
Great - thanks! The tapes are always fun :)
Finally! https://fawm.org/songs/135817/
So I’m literally basing a song around one of your FAWM comments. If you want a collab credit or to sing on it, you hit me up!
Thank for all of your lovely feedback! I eagerly look forward to hearing all of your songs this year!
Feel free to add your own thoughts to the liner notes :)
There's a guitar part?!
Finished, and it's up! Thanks for your patience. I needed to sit with it a while to find the right words. Hope you like it.
Still waiting to hear initial word back from insurance. It'll all work out in the end but it's just frustrating in the first few weeks.
Thank you so much for your comment on „black widow“! yes, dark and creepy is kind of my guilty pleasure >:)
Thanks for your comments on “Snowflake” — the stumble-acrosses are the best part of FAWM!
Thanks a lot! I'll listen later :)
I love your song comments! They're wonderful little stories in their own right. :-)
Thanks for listening to "The Open Sea"!! I appreciate the nice comment and hearing your thoughts
Thanks for your comment on "How are you" some days ago. There's a version with vocals now. And these are awesome! We still haven't done yet but I feel like it's a great song. Musically, somebody explained me, that I used borrow chords jumping in between major, minor and other modes.
Thanks so much for the generous comments about New Year and welcoming me to the FAWM.
Thank you for taking the time to listen. : )
The synthy, e-bow sound is actually just my semi-hollow on a clean channel using a volume pedalwith super drippy reverb.
And thank you for affirming my idea! *heavy sigh*
You said: Gravitational pull between souls... "figure eight asterisk blurred star stuff whirling/flirting energy make tidal forces"... there is a longing tempered by wonder at the vast intimacy of it all. Gorgeous.
That’s what I was hoping would be conveyed even though I stumbled in the liner notes to better describe it.
Thank you so much for the kind words, taking the time to listen and the comments. Coming from you, it means the world to me, really.
Space Chickens reminded me of a book I read some years ago that I've never been able to find again, about one group of dinosaurs that up and split earth before the asteroid hit. Our sun used to be a binary sun and they built a dyson sphere around one of them and took off into the stars. Humans come across them many millions of years later and they've evolved to basically large chicken-like things :D Its a great read, you've motivated me to try and track it down again LOL.
Thanks for commenting on Dark Street Poet. Glad you liked it.
Thank you for your touching comment. I look forward to hear more from you.
Thanks. I'd love to take more credit for that one with @kahlo than I'm due LOL. I scratched out pretty roughly a couple verses and a chorus that was not only made much better, but got a lot of great stuff added. I love what was done musically with that too. Great outcome for VERY little work on my part. That was a wonderful surprise to me this "morning"
Thanks for listening to Weather Report! Nancy's words are great aren't they? It was fun to find a good setting for them; glad you liked it!
Thanks for listening to Globemeter and for your kind comments.
Much appreciated!
Thank you very much for your great comments, much appreciated!
Please greet your cat for me! =^.^=
Diogenes... Diogenes...
Have you ever been to South Australia?
Thank you for your coments. You have captured my intention, there are sounds that evoke images and, for me, also associations with the topic of what joy can mean for others.
Thank you. It'll be a few days before I can start on it but I'll keep you apprised. Shall I just post it when it's done with you as the collaborator?
Yay! So excited. Can you email me the WAV?
Hey.... thanks for the wonderful encouragement on "come on dance with me" Yeah, I really liked how this turned out and with getting my DAW back I was able to work with a little less effort on recording it and technical stuff and focus more on actually trying to play it. Admittedly, I have had this progression as well as the first couple of lines of that chorus in my head and under my fingers for a few years soooo.... I did have a bit of a head start in that regard.
And wow!... um mission accomplished? ;D
I guess if I can even get an ace a little steamy then... tah dahhhh! Look what I can do! :p
*Wren walks off with a little swagger in her step*
Thank you for the lovely feedback. You collabbed on one of my tracks a few years back and I really loved your vocal style. I really hope your voice recovers soon. :)
Thank you for your kind and empathetic comments on The Tree Remembers. Yup, very much working through that trauma recovery and FAWM has generally been very helpful. Well, writing is helpful, and in general, having fellow artists with whom to share that is helpful. It's a long ugly process, but I remind myself it's also a blessing to be in a space to do that work. <3
Merci pour ton commentaire, tu es un ange !
Thank you for your comment, you are an angel !
Thanks for your kind and “sleepy” comments on The Emerald planet. Appreciate the listen and your comments made me smile this morning.
<3 thanks for the feedback! Loved Pearl Grit, you have an awesome sound
Got that posted https://fawm.org/songs/128872/ I can change any tags/liner notes/etc if you want. I'm still giggling a bit at how good that came out.
Thanks for coment on Different Bones!
We had so much fun during the reccording! I am glad that this comes through the music :-)
Glad you liked the voice. Don't worry about listing me as a collaborator.
You should have some cowboy tracks in your email. I can put them on bandlab or give you a link or whatever if that didn't work.
Thanks for watching many of my space videos! I started that project for 50/90 2021 and plan to continue making more in the future. : )
Thanks for the forum tip! Yeah I see there were several threads here and there and passed the info on to my friend. I remember having to click on all the options to actually see where to upload a song. Now I'm a veteran. :0)
Have emailed the Tiny Cowboy 2 tracks to you.
Thank you for the kind words! I really liked the ideas you brought as well, kind of a simple but solid way to fill it in. I appreciate it!
Thank you so much for the zongbust on The Fresh Water War. Well, that was the sort of reaction I was going for, so thank you as well for that! :D Yeah, we're playing with fire the way we're treating this planet. If there are enough songs on the topic, maybe a comp of some sort might be an interesting project. Again, thank you so much for the listen & your kind words. They mean a lot to me.
See You In The Shadows…
Awesome! I'll get to it tonight, or tomorrow at the latest.
Thank you so much for the kind words G.A.
And like you, I miss the off-key, out of tune, making a joyful noise and reckless abandon in which people sang their favorite hymns at church. It’s been a few years that I’ve been an unchurched UU but i don’t see going back any time soon.
So yeah… that song is a little much needed salve for the soul for me, too.
Thank you again for the kind words. It means the world to me.
Big hugs! Muah!
You are now a FAWMlab admin - which I was very much hoping you would volunteer for, so thank you! Will check out your tracks tonight :-)
Hey thanks for the comment on my t shirt design! Now to see if any sell besides the one I bought! It arrives in a couple of weeks!
Thanks for the kind comments on Running, glad you liked it.
Yes, magic indeed :D Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments so far. They mean a lot to me.
I hope that minotaur ended up getting sucked through the airlock, tho… ;->
See You In The Shadows…
Thanks! I'm actually proud of that "motorcycle engine" noise in that one. It's my fretless u-bass through a fuzz pedal :D I don't have any outboard midi gear, but that will be among the first samples I upload when I get ahold of some.
I appreciate your thoughts on "Teach Me How to Speak"! It's part of a concept album I'm working on about communication.
Long time ago a friend gave me a compilation including Green and Yellow. I still love it
you thank you for the response. Um yeah I'm definitely stoked to see what happens this year! thank you for the help friend
Haha, beat me to the link by 1 minute! ;)
I’m very intrigued by the kazoo!
Hah! That made me nearly shoot some coffee out of my nose
Hey! Just sent you an email about tape #3. Looking forward to hearing your music and working on cassettes!
Great to "meet" you!
I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with. :-)
Thanks for the welcome back post. Here's a "Benvingut" coming back to you from Barcelona.
Likewise :)
Happy FAWM!! Lookin forward to hearing what you come up with this year! :-)
Welcome back! Looking forward to hearing what you create this year!
Re: headphones, I love the Sony MDR-7506 and I'm on my third pair over many years :-) Enjoy your search!
Thank you! I try. I get things wrong a lot, but that's how I learn, too.
Thanks! A nice ambient backing track for the pronoun album would be good. I've released two albums of "Ambient Acapella" before, but my own experiments in it have been mixed. (However, one of them was the only album I've made that has had any sales.)
My expected writing process for this album will be real-time. I'm just going to improvise the whole album in one sitting. (Which is how I can do it without messing up my other February plans.) I'm flexible on length, so I can improvise 16, drop half of them, and release an album with 8 or something. If I don't end up liking enough, I'll just improvise another 14 or so. The speed makes all kinds of otherwise unthinkable things possible.
That said, I don't want to interfere with your existing plans too much. I most definitely don't want to overwhelm you. I like to say that if songwriting were a video game, I maxed out my "Speed" stat while basically ignoring everything else. It's just not how most people play.
My thinking at this point: Day 1 I record the acapella for the album, run it through the AI to get mostly-okay lyrics, and get "The Pronoun Sessions" posted to Bandcamp with all of the tracks. (Fast and unedited as a limited time pre-release before the actual album.) Then you can decide if you really want to do the ambient backing tracks or not, plus you could decide you want to do them, but decide you only want to do one for FAWM or something.
I got to here before realizing this should probably be an email. The link to my FAWM email should work. Let me know if there are problems with it.
Happy FAWMing!
Sorry to hear about your voice being out of commission :( I'm sure you'll write plenty of beautiful songs regardless, but I hope you recover soon. (If you want a temporary voice for a demo, Jon Leaves is available for your Tom Waits-y stuff ... !)
Hey there! Sent you an e-mail. Let me know what you think! :)
Really looking forward, as always, to your new music!!
Thanks for your kind words. I am a homeschool survivor as well but the moniker is a lie, we all know my brothers beat me for prom king every year...
Thanks for the kind welcome back! Your songs were highlights for me last year -- looking forward to hearing what you create this time around!
I'm happy to see you back again! I'm gonna take it easy this year (maybe?) but here, certainly. Joyous music making to you.
Hey Gardening Angel
so great to see you back. Can't wait to hear some of those cool sounds of yours!!
Hey! Yeeesss, it is a reference to FGT, so glad you noticed :)
Hello! Glad to see you're back this year, too. :)
Hellou there, wishing you an amazing FAWM! :)
Argh!
cant wait to hear the kazoo tracks! good luck this year!
Angel! Yes, I will be fawming this year, great to see you are back too!
And it is good to see you back again as well. Looking forward to hearing your output. Happy FAWMing!
See You In The Shadows…
It's good to see you back again. I hope you have a great year! :)
Awww, sorry about the voice! Though I do love some kazoo and guitars and keys and BandLab :) Looking forward to it!
Yay! Looking forward to a fun month and some funny songs!
GA!!! So good to see you here. And look at you!... a Flying V
I see someone did some favors to get the kick butt profile album art. :p
Kinda curious what you will pull off with a kazoo. Can hardly wait.
Mo, great to see you here and I look forward to what you come up with!
Happy FAWMing 2022! Hope you have an incredible 8th year and hope you are well :)
Dude! Happy FAWM to you!
