Influences: Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Todd Rundgren, or anyone else who does the one-man-band thing; fellow teacher Robert Pollard; '90s Seattle acts I looked up to as a clueless youth; British acts; R&B acts; hip hop acts; psychedelic nuggets; Roy Orbison; Brazilian Bossa nova and Tropicalia pioneers; Technotronic; the entire Jackson family; '50s and '60s jazz; Carole King; Mac DeMarco; suave good-looking types with golden pipes like Robert Palmer and Chris Isaak; Chuck Berry, Love, Benny Goodman, and anyone else who broke color lines in music; Fats Domino; Squeeze and everyone else from England; '70s power pop acts who realized "This hard rock brought the rock but forgot the songs. This soft rock has kick-ass songs with gorgeous melodies and harmonies, but they forgot to bring the rock. Why not bring both the ROCK and the SONGS? Yeah!"
