Chris, thank you so much for really giving my songs a proper listen this FAWM, to the extent that you came back for Round Two on "Lavender Gardens" and "Bossa Teresa."
Thanks for the March comment on 'A Wish For You'.
Skipping record? Like a old tape you just hit fast forward during recording?!
Thanks for your comment on "Diplomacy". The download is disabled, because we will rerecord this song as full band in some months - and maybe put on Bandcamp when I have more songs around. This will be a banging tune!
Thanks a lot for your kind words on "Dorian Gray". I'm glad you enjoyed! This is just a rough sketch with programmed instruments. We will record this with real instruments when I found a singer. This will hit really hard!
Thanks for the comments on 'Selfish' and 'Groundhog Day'!
Wow, a 2nd listen on "Details," I can barely listen to my own music twice, haha. thank you! And also re: Juliana Hatfield, that's awesome, I don't think I was cool enough to listen to her in her musical prime, though I always thought "I Hate My Sister" was lyrically pretty brave (I have 3).
I tried to use my banjolele on "Down at the Dipsey Doodle" but it wasn't getting along well with my recording set up, so Molokai it is!
Hey Chris! Re: “No One Else to Blame” - thank you thank you!
Thanks for stopping by, Chris! This one started with the cajon, actually! I wanted the 7/8 feel, but not have it be frenetic, but I did want it to gradually grow and bloom. (I still need to learn how to use compressors, so those ghost notes will speak.) From there, I figured the modal idiom would be pretty flexible from the standpoint of pitch, so I purely made the melody meander to match the spoken cadence of the lyrics. Pretty much everything you hear in the piano, except the rolling left hand and the steady cluster chords, was Andrew's doing - again, cannot say enough for how he brought it to life.
Thanks again for giving it a look!
