Artist Bio

Influences:   Tool, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Iron and Wine... and just about everything in between.

Behavior Analyst / Clinical director by day, amateur musician in my free time (when I'm not playing The Binding of Isaac or chowing down on some chicken wings) currently in Pittsburgh but may be moving soon...

I've always loved singing and writing lyrics and have done some solo recordings and songs I cowrote with a pal on occasion... over the years I have been putting together a meager home studio situation.

I have a cursory understanding of my midi keyboard and have been screwing around in Ableton for years - some of my solo work and collab projects can be found on my YouTube page linked above - and I've also slowly been making progress on guitar, but I've got a long way to go.

Look forward to seeing what this month brings, and always appreciate feedback - also, open to any and all kinds of collaboration if you'd like a lyricist / vocalist / co-conspirator of some other sort.

Completed FAWM last year; this year I just hope to have a few good collaborations and see where it goes!

Lovely Day note held over 18 seconds by Bill Withers and The Grudge 30-second scream followed by Danny Carey's drum solo--music magic!!

  • @katestantonsings  Mar 2022

LOL! My brother has been sending me clips of the tour since we usually go see Tool, Puscifer, or APC together. Thinking I may need to watch this Pitt bootleg footage!!! The Grudge live makes both my head and heart explode. I haven't seen that one live since the Lateralus tour.

  • @katestantonsings  Mar 2022

To think, all this time we were being told Maynard is shy and doesn't like the limelight! He's not hiding from the crowd. He is playing...Operation?! hahaha I regret not getting tickets for this tour. It seems like a lot of fun.

  • @edwardsmusic Mar 2022

Hi Chris, I appreciate the comments! I hope we bump heads during the 50/90 challenge.

  • @paulharrison  Mar 2022

Thanks for your nice comments on "No No." Kristi writes lyrics in a way that is pretty much "music ready" so it was a fun collab.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

You're welcome! I clicked through my watchlist to find the Soundcloud and Bandcamp links. This is why I figured it out. And I just noticed we already have each others Soundcloud.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

Your SoundCloud link seems to be broken :(

  • @wacha  Mar 2022

Thanks for the kind words on "False Profit", I'll take a Dylan/Joplin comparison any time!

  • @katestantonsings  Mar 2022

Thanks for your support and friendship, Chris! You've got lots to celebrate--a promotion, moving, and growth as a musician!! Busy season you're in. Have a lovely spring! We can connect via YouTube anytime. Enjoy Tool if you go!

  • @nadine Mar 2022

I enjoyed working with you and YES for more in future. We have a good chemistry. As we both are busy in the next weeks, I plan finishing our songs in summer or autumn. The vocal take on "At your command" is final, but we have to decide about the arrangement and song length of "Under". Guess this is worth a call things calm down a bit. Just tell me when you're done with moving :)

  • @nadine Mar 2022

Thanks for your kind words on "Fit right in". These words came straight from my heart. I still don't feel that my singing could do this song (or any of my sketches) justice so I hope that Kate will knock it out of the park after FAWM.

The salt in the single malt is not a joke. When I went to Sweden we found a very pricey whiskey that has been stored in former fish boxes. And there are people who drink smokey and bitter whiskey with sea salt. And yes I loooove electric guitars in orchestras.

  • @danvaillancourt  Feb 2022

I do like Modest Mouse actually, that is a fun comparison that I would have never put together. It has been a while but a good reminder to listen to some Modest Mouse!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

I've started the forum topic on finding the remaining roles for our songs. Let's see what happens.

  • @n1742 Feb 2022

Thanks for your comments about quiet joys. Much appreciated.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Cheers on the whiskey! I'm working on a final version of the "Blues for Nadine" hopefully be uploaded this or next week.

Re: I'm such a 90s and 00s kiddo. Most of my CDs are from that era and I think that my own sound is stuck in the early 2000s xD

  • @seppo Feb 2022

    Thanks :)
Synti solo was not supposed to leave there but it was 3am and was too tired and lazy to write and sing more stuff so I just left it there :)
    Really nice 1-finger solo.

  • @doggolito Feb 2022

Thanks for listening to "mewnii swing" :)

I don't know how I was able to pull that off, but I felt like doing something like that and did what I could to give my idea life ^^

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment on "The World's Most Simplest Man". It's been fun to try something new. And @seppo got real skill on bass and production. I'm glad you enjoyed!

  • @wearedinosaurs  Feb 2022

Hey Chris! How are you? Thanks for commenting on 'Game Set' I see the zombies too now :)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

    You made my day xD

  • @emplate  Feb 2022

...appreciated! (Accidentally hit the send button too soon.)

  • @emplate  Feb 2022

Thank you for the comments on Hiihtävä surma and Käärmeenkäräjäkivi! Much

  • @thetau  Feb 2022

Hey Chris, Check your email. I sent you an email with a new tune; also sent you a revised copy of the last one "HAT Moon"

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Read your comment on @katestantonsings profile. I'm blushed all over! I have to stop my muse a bit cause I can't manage 20 collabs in parallel (still working on my 2021 album xD) But the doors are always open. Let's keep in touch and collab again someday :)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

Yeah, @nadine is pretty amazing like that. I felt the same way when she sent me Skyscraper. I love the two songs you’ve done so far. And great work on the screams and emotive vocals—they sound genuine which is hard to do for that style. Maybe I should channel my anger outwardly rather than it manifesting as depression inwardly. Inspiring stuff.

  • @caitlin Feb 2022

Thanks for your fun comments on My Body Is a Temple! I’m over here enjoying listening to The Bastard Fairies now. Dirty Sexy Kill Kill is my new jam, ha! Appreciate the introduction to something I may never have stumbled upon otherwise. Nothing quite like the ol’ CD bargain bin at the music store.

  • @sorby69  Feb 2022

Hey Chris - thanks for giving my "Who's shaking the jar?" song a listen. Glad you noted the dammit/Janet homage :)

  • @colgoo  Feb 2022

Finally got my recordings posted, if you want to go back and listen to any of them…

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

You and Nadine should rock some Maynard mohawks! :)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your encouraging comment on "Rendezvous". My muse helped me to create a structure and groive but now I'm completely stuck. I just noticed that the song is yearning for emotional guitar playing, but I can't. Hopefully somebody will drop in and then I could fox the piano, play organ or something like that.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

    Merry Christmas :)

  • @tunecat  Feb 2022

Hey good to hear from you. I hope we both have a productive time!! Loved doing the mountain song with you last year.
Oh - and I've only just seen it on youtube. I've been meaning to contact you. What a great video you did

  • @nadine Feb 2022

I have been super productive today. You got a mail!

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2022

Thank you Chris for listening to both compositions and for your kind comment.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind words on "Dorian Gray". It's been the first time I did something with signature changes and now my head is going insane with 9/4 and more weirdo stuff. I'll create a demo and send you when I'm ready.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Chris, I heard you love Tool, APC, Deftones and all the weird time signature rock. My muse came up with weird ideas yesterday and I want to write down asap. Should I send them to you first?

  • @tabitha Feb 2022

Awesome, I should have a chance to take a look tomorrow!

  • @tabitha Feb 2022

Hey Chris, great to hear you've had a productive first day. I'd love to have a look at them, feel free to either leave them on my sound board or to email them through to me. You should be able to find my email address on my profile.

  • @winchperry  Feb 2022

Hi, I saw your post in the Philly regional check in site. Exciting that you are moving to the area next month. Visit www.pasamusic.org and sign up (free) to get notices of our songwriter events, and when you get here physically you can attend. For the time being most all are on zoom - so tune in from where you are - until covid gets better or we can have events outside.

  • @thetau  Feb 2022

Hello Chris, Love you vocal sound... Heard your Youtube... and saw your Collab request in the forms. I'm instruments, backing, and arrangements side of it all, but week in Vocals and Lyrics. I'll be intouch -Russ

  • @caitlin Jan 2022

Welcome to Conshohocken next month! I work in Conshy. Maybe there will be an opportunity to meet IRL at some point and share some music! Until then, happy FAWMing!

  • @tabitha Jan 2022

Glad you liked them, sorry I meant to send you through something a little more polished and less out of time! Let me know if there is a song you want some music on :-)

  • @katestantonsings  Jan 2022

Pneuma is the best one on Fear Inoculum, IMHO. Looking forward to hearing your collab with @nadine as she also rocks!!

  • @nadine Jan 2022

Thanks :-)! Please don't be too disturbed about my MIDI demos. I team up with people and record real instrumentals after FAWM. Looking forward to rocking with you! Your influences are great and I'm sure we find something.

  • @dreamscuba  Jan 2022

Thanks, Chris for the offer on vocals... I mostly write/play rock, heavy rock and blues (e.g Pink Floyd style), some pop, Latin, Folk, Country, Reggae... I watched your video of "In The Still Of The Night"...that was great!! Happy to explore ...

  • @musicsongwriter Jan 2022

Hi Chris, thank you so much, that will be awesome. Looking forward to collaborating with you again. Have a great FAWM.

  • @nadine Jan 2022

Finally found you here! Happy FAWMing. I'm looking forward to hear yoir new music!

  • @tabitha Jan 2022

Hey! I saw your post in the forums looking for instrumentalists and had a listen to some of your songs. I'd be up for collaborating if you'd like to. I don't have much stuff easily findable online but can send you links if you'd like to hear a bit of my style.

If you get too busy or it's just not your thing, no worries, no explanation needed - just thought I'd reach out. Happy FAWM

  • @katestantonsings  Jan 2022

The last time I saw Tool live was in November 2019. I want to go again this spring! Danny Carey’s solo Chocolate Chip Trip was so cool!! I hope you have loads of fun this FAWM!

  • @katestantonsings  Jan 2022

Hey Chris! You know Tool is coming to Pittsburgh in March?! Have a rock'n good time this FAWM! I haven't forgotten our Deftones cover, either. It will happen...
