Candle is something that needs to be experienced.
The music of Candle has been described as Progressive, Psychadelic, Space Rock, and even Experimental. But what Darby, the artist behind the sounds, is really trying to achieve is a connection with every listener. To make those who choose to listen to his music feel something deep within themselves. Something they might not have ever felt before. Or maybe some memory they cherish deeply. The frequencies and moods created with a single guitar are layered in order to paint vistas which hopefully will let the sensations & imaginations of the listeners rejoice in the experience and become an interactive part of the music itself.
So close your eyes, take a deep breath & relax. Let the music touch your soul.

2022:
We'll just have to wait & see what the Muse decides she wants to do this year. Certainly some new #slothcore at the very least ;)

Thank you for your nice comments on Spaceship Coffeeshop! And wohoo, congrats for winning FAWM! Also, hello fellow person from Ontario
Ah, cool thanx for picking up my CD!!!
I thought it was sold out, but am glad it's still available!
I hope you like it!
Thank you so much for picking up a copy of Beyond on Bandcamp! Hope you enjoy it :D
Behind in my listening as well. I stopped when I saw you posted some more lyrics up for grabs, as I already had too many things I wanted to finish before fawmend and knew I'd want to do one of those as well LOL. I'll get caught back up in the next little bit! I'm especially intrigued to get to that Argentroopers tune!
(Placehoder - # 25)
Because 26 songs would be egregious.
Congrats on the win brother :)
Thanks!
Maybe I should do that... I probably have a full album's worth by now... ;)
Might your flame burn strong.
Enjoy being.
I’ll hear you next year.
Greets from Vienna
LOL yes it's certainly an interesting name
We are all behind in our listening, it is the bane and the joy of FAWM...
Yeah I like how that turned out as well... too bad I missed the second line... I'll chalk that up to my US public school education :D LOL
Oh, you know I write a swan song almost every year. As usual, this one isn't good enough to be the final one. Just kinda helps to make them. I think "A Life of Quiet Shame" was probably the best one, and that was when I still had everything I've lost at this point =P
P.S you should have heard me and @looprication gushing about you on the phone yesterday. You are very much loved my friend.
P.P.S.S.P.S.S A Night at the Bootleg Cafe is my contender for song of the year/forever. Some say it's still playing to this day.
It's gold rush time!
And congrats to you too!
Man, I need to get LISTENING here! :D
Thanks for your note on the latest Legitimate Political Discourse — you are absolutely right about the Orwellian nature of it all — the “patriots” fighting for “freedom” are vandals trying to infringe other rights or, as you say, avoid the consequences of the freedoms they’ve already exercised.
Which is frighteningly reminiscent of the American Civil War: the continuing mythology of the “Lost Cause” fighting for a “noble way of life” that was based entirely on torture and slavery, and the aftermath in which those same terrorists fought successfully to be readmitted to Congress and re-establish their tyrannies which then flourished for another hundred years. That’s probably going to prompt at least one more “Illegal History” piece based on WEB DuBois’s history of Reconstruction.
One can't become a proper antitheist without growing up in the church.
That being said; even cosplaying it made me feel really disgusting and I might never make music again.
Thanks for your comment on my song and recommendation on the thread!
The video... I took a look on what I have and I'm not sure if it's going to work. I wrote the song that you heard, then stretched it 8x and bounced it to cassette without the guitar part. During the video I play the guitar part over the cassette, but of course I have to play it super slow on the low E string, so that when I speed up the video again it increases in pitch 3 octaves!
I did a test and after speeding up everything 8x it just sounds muddy. Not what I expected at all. :/
Thanks! I've fallen off on my listening, and you've been busy the last few days, but will catch up...
There will be at least two more Bandit tracks, ones mostly done with him singing along to some of @gardeningangel1 's key playing that I think is turning out pretty great, mostly because my harmonica playing gets good and buried in the mix LOL.
Hey, well I have just the track.
So., I had made a track with a collab in mind but I figured you'd be busy so I recorded a solo vocal version, which to be honest I don't like very much (because it wasn't what I wanted it to be).
That song is "Don't !!". Would you like to do a duet version of that track? I'll send you the instrumental and split for what parts to sing if you're interested. I'd love to finish that song the way I intended it.
Thank you! :)
Congrats on YOUR win!!
Well its no fun to "win" if you're muse isn't cooperating! I wish I had some pointers, but I only suppose theirs worse problems than 11+ tunes in less than 3 weeks when we're you're feeling "off" LOL.
Damn, I'm really sorry to hear about all that =/ I totally understand. It's still insane how much output you manage especially considering everything you put into this community. The muse is the muse. I had mine at knifepoint until I realized she'd already gone.
If I get anything Muzzard related somewhat done, I'll send it over to you to maybe just leave a mark on it if anything.
Just remember I love you. We all love you =]
Do you still want to go Muzzard hunting this year sir?
Also, thank you for your kind words as always.
As I constantly say; the year you stop asking if I'm around is the year I stop showing up. No pressure =P

Thanks for your wonderful comment "Visible and Invisible". I do have an idea for vocals, but unfortunately I'm not capable to execute those :D
I mean to mention the other day that your Fresh Water War song reminded me of a great SF novel, The Water Knife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Water_Knife — highly recommended.
Thanks for that recommendation.... That was very mesmerizing!
Hey Darby, thanks for your comments on "The Kids," I'm beat after writing/recording that one, even singing about my kids takes a lot out of me, haha. Glad you can relate :-)
Right! I felt like I was "slacking" but had 9 songs by the 8th. Just because not on pace for 50+ I guess it just felt that way hah.
Sent you an email!
Hi there — good to hear your stuff! This is an unusually busy year for me — trying to fit writing and listening around a full time job and a move. But I’m happy to be back!
So to savagely oversimplify, trackers seem to be advanced piano rolls...
Thank you candle !
Some weird in your work, interesting !
Thanks! Wouldn't of been so bad if I would of actually recorded it in headphones, or layered it... it was all out of one really loud amp, but no second guessing about the mix or whatever now. I've got some listening catching up to do, but my ears need a break LOL
Ah, I (sort of) see!
I think I get it; after all, I myself am a "rather nerdy & complex beast".
Electronics and computers are two things I really don't understand that well. I guess I should educate myself.
Guten Morgen, thx for taking on a journey into the unknown… am glad that you survived without anything gruesome jumpin‘ at you. I’ll be listening in at your page again, soon. Need a bid of sleep now after another nightshirt.
Thanks so much for your comments! Happy FAWMing!
Thank you for the great feedback, it’s really helpful to understand which lines are working for you! I am looking forward to working these songs out over the next few weeks…
Enquiring minds want to know...
Yikes, that sounds stressful.
I guess a life-changing event for you was just another day at the office for him.
Sorry, I missed the bread tag description in the gear list. :)
Thank you for your comments on Girl with Puppy-Saving Heart. Much appreciated.
Thanks! I wish that intro chord would of been cleaner, but that Jaguar takes some TLC to even be able to get a fully clean tone out of LOL.
Thank you so much for your comment :)!!
Awesome! I got all but one piece of the puzzle in on it so I'll be sending you a Google Docs file with all the details and a guide track soon!
I have a drum beat you might want to play around with. I'll send a .wav. I'm going to add some guitar and some other stuff to it as well once I muster up enough courage to venture out into the cold. There's no nifty tempo changes or anything as I just layered it together using a few pads off the e-kit and a looper.
Haha thanks, I actually used a "Stephen Hawking online voice simulator".
I'm not sure if you can tell in the song but Stevie sure kicked that grizzly's ass!
Hey Candle, I was thinking of a multi-collab idea with multiple short parts and I was wondering if you wanted to sing on a section of the song. In my head it will be really silly and continue to grow in insanity as more people enter the story.
Hi there in the sunlight. Best wishes for this FAWM from within the shadows.
Tu me fais rougir! Merci beaucoup. <3
I don't know to what extent I actually manage to channel the turmoil, haha. But that's part of our creative process, isn't that? We are alchemists of sorts.
Excellent start for this year, keep it up!
Thank you for the comment on my song :) glad you enjoyed it!
Was such a fun noisy loop I'll probalby do more with it as well. It was inspiring ;O)
Thanks for the comment. Happy to see someone who gets the punchline! Nothing brings me greater amusement than references only Canadians get.
Hey, thank you for your message left on my soundboard!
I have decided to do FAWM this year. All the best to you, I will be back to check out your sonic experiments.
Hi Candle. Happy FAWMing. That is quite the impressive list of gear sir!!
Thank you, I‘m also looking forward to your songs :) listened to „darkness“ on your bandcamp and really liked it
Glad to see you back, look forward to all your works this year!
Hey Candle... the new Bridge11 album is finally out in the world
https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12324/#c260942
Absolutely! Please do, and a .wav would probably be better. I reformatted my laptop last month and still haven't put buzz back on it. I will and actually yeah, send a bmx as well it'll give me the motivation to put it back on here :)
Thanks for stopping by, Darby. Have a fantastic FAWM!
Hi, Darby! Thanks so much for your nice message! Yeah, it's been a while, hehe. It's really good to see you here too. Crazy past two years, eh? This won't be a full FAWM for me as things are still rough (though less for reasons of my own health now and more for reasons involving my mom's health), but I do plan on issuing a challenge, as you already know. I'm excited to hear that you're game for it!!!
See you in the shadows! (Yes, of course I remember your awesome slogan.)
Just wait until I and my hard-working technicians figure out how to send music back from the afterlife....
Bandit likes the ocarina I've been trying to play as well. He doesn't sing along as much as he does with a harmonica, but that's probably due to my sour note playing :) I can't even pick up a harmonica anymore without him getting super excited.
Welcome back! have a great FAWM
Glad to see another prog guy here! Excited to see what you make this year, happy FAWMing!
Hi Candle! Welcome back!
Thanks so much for picking up A Blue Dot!
We hope you like it!
Double em double ex double eye,
That's the year it is, of my!
Sorry, just popped into my head & had to write it down somewhere…
See You In The Shadows…
You don't like your new picks?!?
They don't "feel right"?!?
Aren't you the guy who uses bread tags to play...? ;)
Happy FAWMing!!
Hey hey, happy FAWMing!
Not sure how I wasn't following you until just now... anyway, happy FAWM, and I can't wait to see what you dream up!
Hey ya! Ready for some Buzz!
Greetings candle!
Maew merrwow arrrrew rrhwrr! =^.^=
Salut Darby! Well, I'll try and get something done... No clue where I'm heading towards, haha.
Hope you are well, looking forward to visiting the new worlds you will be building.
Have a wonderful fawm!
I will see you in the shadows...
Always good to see you about :) happy FAWM!
I do try to get the drum kit involved at least once every FAWM.
Yeah, you got a cassette tape.
I got a dumb snare.
:(
Snow snow snow snow snow. It's a real winter this year. Hope that means some real creativity for you in K-town!
The snow storm just began a couple hours ago, good thing I don't have to go anywhere today...
Candle!!!! :)
I hope you're not snowed in like I am!!
Candle!!! Hope to see you again this year (in the shadows, of course) :)
Ah, dear man, Mornington Crescent is calling! So good to be back in the game.
*waves hello*
Any plans for this year? I might try to ONLY do 14, not counting any skirmishes of course.
Hey Candle, hope to hear more tunes from you this FAWM!
