Artist Bio

Influences:   Think Dolores O'Riordan meets Brandi Carlile, with a healthy dose of ethereality.

Caitlin Sigler (she/her) is heavily influenced by her coming of age in the 90's; she wears her heart on her sleeve like Tori Amos, has a unique yodel that rivals that of Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries, and an ethereal vocal quality reminiscent of Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs. She gets further musical inspiration from grassroots activists like Ani DiFranco, Regina Spektor, and Brandi Carlile, to use her music as a vehicle for healing and support of marginalized groups, women, people of color, refugees, and those affected by addiction. The humanity in her lyrics is as ordinarily relatable as it is extraordinarily remarkable.

Yay!! You got to 14!! Congrats!! :-)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

You and Dave should check out 50/90 this summer? http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/

Sot did drums for me on a song last year. We were going to collab again, but I haven’t heard from him recently—hope he’s ok.

You’re so close to 14!! I think you got this:)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

    Caitlin,
If I don't hear from you, I wanted to say CONGRATS on your upcoming nuptials. I am beyond thrilled you have found happiness and music together. Thanks for all the encouraging words and support the last few years. You're a good friend!!

Btw, have you heard from Sotiris at all?

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comments on 'Selfish'! Writing such a song can be very cathartic!

  • @ampersandman  Feb 2022

Thank you for listening and your comment on See-through. It’s funny how you took it for a love song. I don’t do love songs or anything happy :)
When I wrote it I had big tech companies using and trading our personal data for their own gain in mind. But that’s the amazing power of song – you listen, you relate to it in your way and thereby make it your own. I love how you found something so joyous in my pessimistic cynical ramblings. Thank you for that.

  • @beyondthelimes  Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment on Tropic of Capricorn, and that you liked my voice. I guess like a lot of singer-songwriters, I could take or leave my voice sometimes!

  • @lmr  Feb 2022

Thanks so much for your lovely comment about "How are You?"! I really enjoyed "Satellite", it really hit home. How often have a been one in my relationships? Yeah, too often.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks a lot for your comment on "How are you". I loved what we cooked there :)

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Something Wicked'!

  • @tseaver  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen to my "Summoning Spring." You asked, "That crunchy chord that keeps repeating scratches such an itch - what is it??"

The song is in F. The two non-diatonic chords are the F# diminished (second measure and sixth) and E7 over a B in the bass (twelfth measure).

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Oh we didn't want to hit you that hard but I take this as a compliment xD

Good luck on fixing NRE. Maybe I have had the impression cause the drums were in the background and I started to miss something. If silence doesn't work, I insert some hihats or rides depending on the drama and style of the song.

  • @chrismyth02 Feb 2022

Thanks for checking out "Under"! I appreciate the kind words!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

You're welcome! I didn't know that but yes, now I see the singer's name as influence. I'm not good in reminding names... She had such a great and unique voice and style.

  • @smiley  Feb 2022

Thank you for sounding on my soundboard. I am looking forward to checking out more of your ditties. Keep up the good work!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2022

I would like to thank you so much for your wonderful comment on "Une parole qui se rime avec le mot toujours"...

  • @vegansongs  Feb 2022

    Thank you so much Caitlin!
I use a Korg Keyboard arranger workstation for these demos.. its like band in a box. I call my " band" the cellmates.

  • @downburst  Feb 2022

Oh, she’s just a musician who lives there. She’s the daughter of my closest friend. She’s great, check her out!

  • @downburst  Feb 2022

Thanks for the nice comment! Ordinarily I would be adding harmonies, but everything just seems so *difficult* this year. :(

Hey, you’re in Philly. Do you know Emily Bate?

  • @theawkwardsleep Feb 2022

I've literally sat here all night last night and all day mixing it. :) I feel like i've lost my damn mind. haha By the way, thats a pretty awesome compliment with Bjork. Appreciate it. -Ru

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

    Thank you, Caitlin!! <3

  • @twyllodrus Feb 2022

Thanks a lot for your nice comment on our body parts slasher.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thank you so much! Reading this from a native speaker means a lot to me :)

  • @brisk Feb 2022

Ahh! So glad that you have been introduced to "Whatever Didi Wants" - it is such an amazing song. I think it transcends the genre really; there's something I find really haunting about it, and I've never really been able to put my finger on what. It's like a prayer, or a threat, or a promise, and you aren't sure as a listener exactly what it is, so it can be all of them.(So cool that it fits your family too!)

Glad you liked mine too - I really like the chorus but I don't have the vocal range, or the recording nouse, to really pull it off - and because I wasn't sure which bits to keep and which to cut I ended up keeping more than I should I think. But maybe with a singalong chorus it is okay to have a slightly random structure. Thanks anyway! I don't think I share you're view on the lyrics, but its good to know that they hang together sufficiently for you at least! The second verse is a particular issue I think, but it kind of reminded me of Nirvana, funnily enough ("Pen Cap Chew"...)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

... and also thanks for the words on "Skyscraper". This has been tons of fun :)

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment on "Inner Demon". Creathing these rhymes was the hardest part. A rhyming dictionary didn't help. I tried out lots of words with less and ness which have 3 syllables and translated them back to ensure that the meaning suits my purpose well.

  • @erucaesounds  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind words on Non-Smiley Face, much appreciated!!!
