Someone suggested for me to do this last year...& here I am again! I was so happy with the intergrading of the words I put together with people's voices/music...
I'm an all around creative person whose graduated with a BFA degree & MFA degree. I also got turned into a POET. Looking forward to collaborating and possibly adding more voice spoken word this year... we'll see...
My Mother always played piano. My Grandfather was a one man band & more. I have an ear.

Hey Arlene - so sorry we never got our collab going. I think in FAWM you just kinda ride the wave - looks like you had a really good FAWM and got a lot of songs done. I thought of you as I was reading these lyrics today, a skirmish song with the prompt "comparison" and it made me think of perfectionism. https://fawm.org/songs/136705/

Hey there....I was checking out your collaboration with adnama17 and was struck by this comment of yours; "This feels similar to what I could have came up with given I only do spoken word pieces.
In my opinion it is the greater of a challenge to put my inspired lyric into a singable format; though you have to go with what you feel." I'm pretty sure that will be heard as hurtful and back-handed. That is something that should be said privately, but probably not said at all. Maybe you didn't mean it to come off like that, but it did. FAWM is a very pleasant place, so let's try to keep it respectful and kind. Thank you. -

Regarding edits, do I need to run everything by you? Or am I free to do minor tweaks to fit the music? I don't usually change things hardly at all, an added "the" here or an "a" there usually, but some people are really particular so I always ask first. :)
Also, do you want to hear it before I upload it, or do you like to be surprised? -

Cornflower and periwinkles are my new flowers this year. New veggies are cannelloni and soy beans. Also going to look at redoing part of my yard in native plants rather than grass. I live in the desert of that helps spark anything for you. :)

I finally got to recording the D minor chord yesterday; I still need to tweak and polish it a bit, maybe this weekend, but it's 70% done. I just need to edit, pitch-correct and mix.

I think this is just a case of differing perspectives, and what I find helpful would be unhelpful for you.
The middle roads melding to me is what you said second. They don’t register well with me. If I try to stay in a single moment of balance I calcify and freeze which is not great for me.
staying straight and true for me is a reference to a strict religious upbringing, so for me it has restrictive, rather than grounding connotations.
I will agree, the breaking was sad.
Where I say,
“I still swing, though I hope I’ve gone slower” I think I’m in agreement with you. I used to whiplash back and forth, which you are right, takes a toll. Now I’m not so focused on which side I’m heading towards at any one time, I’m connecting the sides to find my own sense of the middle without restriction.
I hope that clarifies the song a little, at least from my perspective. Thank you again for your insights! -

Cool thread recommend. Checked it out. Yeah, am only posting one. Was kind of a reworking. Going forward for Feb, unless a genuine original pops into my feeble mind, will do more browsing, lurking and listening. Really is an interesting range of sounds and words on this project. Appreciative for the tip off as it is hard to come across this range of home spun sounds without some Spotify list or random indie blog recommending stuff, which itself is often curated in a way that does not congeal with the heart
