(He/Him)
Began songwriting in 2009, and FAWM/5090/NaSoAlMo in 2012. So this is my eleventh FAWM. For me music is a hobby, all for fun, and songwriting is a sort of personal self-psychotherapy.
February 2022, a new set of inspirations or picking out junk from the scrapheap? We'll see. Factors: a new job working from home ten feet from my recording computer, weather, family, and the unknown 'what's next'.
Otherwise looking forward to FAWM songwriting, seeing/hearing from old friends, and the inspiration I get from listening to others songs here.

Thx for hosting the Tue FAWMtalk....much appreciated.
If you ever have the chance let multiple producers work on your stems. It's fun to hear what other people can do with your raw material. Each producer has a different taste in mixing and dynamics - and if you allow editing and enhancement they will use different effects and techniques. It's important for a band to chose a producer who is close to their own sound. I may not have a stamp as musician but I certainly have one as producer :D
Thanks for the shoutout! I'm just getting back into listening and looking forward to it :)
Hey, Andy - thanks so much for all your thoughtful listening and responding most recently to Iron That Shirt. I was excited to hear your Yekkey song this weekend on the Spanish Rock Radio show. « Wait, I know Yekkey ». Look forward to more next year or at 50/90
Thanks for your comment on Gestaltwandler / Shapeshifter!
This one was too difficult to me to translate. But its one of my favorits. To make lyrics this way is only possible to me in my native language. I love to play with words and to draw a picture with them.
Thanks for the comment on "Dance of the Desert Sand"!
Thanks for the comment on 'Running Out of Time'!
You comment on "Disco Blues" inspire me for a cover image. Thank you!
Thanks! I'm actually digging through all my stuff from the last 2-3 years and going to put a collection of all the super trashed out under 2mins noisy screamy stuff together... I initially thought 20-25 min compilation tops, but there was more of it than I assumed so now editing down the pile and combining some things.
Punk in a nutshell ;-) But not all punk is punk is what I learned from being in a punk band. You can get drunk, thrash 3 chords and scream about anarchy.. but you can also do tapping solos and flageollett riffs in a 30 track arrangement and have complex rhyhming schemes.
Thanks a lot! I have no idea what punk was like in the 70s. Didn't even know there was already surf punk! My musical voyage starts in the 80s but I'm 2000s kiddo cause its when I grew up.
Oh, and you came back to listen to a second one. How nice! Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind words. Yes, I'm not sure I'll pursue "A Tribute" into a full choral piece. It's already feeling a little too difficult for the choir I presently sing in right now, but maybe if I transpose it down a key and if I'm careful to keep it just to four vocal parts, I might be able to write something our choir could sing. Obviously, Nathaniel Dett must have had an excellent choir to sing his pieces. His "Listen to the Lambs" splits into 8 parts at times, and in other spots, the choir is singing in unison. It's such an interesting and moving piece. I just love it. Thank you so much for the listens. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the nice words about my piece "Pleasant Dream Turned to Crap".
Wait wow so fitting-- transportation engineer. Thanks for the great comment! (on Amber Light)
Thanks a lot for your kind comment on "She's contemplating". It was fun to do something different. As you may know I do not even listen to ballads and singer songwriting. I am not contented with the delivery cause I'm a beginner guitarist and never felt as a singer. It will take some years until I feel ready for a real recording which is why I haven't bought gear. I am happy that @wacha will jump in.
Thanks Andy! So glad you liked ghost in the window. Thanks for stopping by. :0)))
Sending 20 thanks! I was not expecting that just messing around with robyn's mp3 would result in such a cool tempo shift chorus but I'm glad it worked :) & ooh, inspiring me with "Feels like there is a lot more to the story"
Goodness.....You have been busy! I need to get back to your songs. I have a few minutes right now!
Thanks for your support and encouraging words, Andy! Maybe I’ll see you around for nanowrimo or 50/90? Are there any specific songs you’d like, so I can repay the listens?
Ah, thanks for the clarification, I do have one of those, and it 's turned my life into a Rubix cube that I'm constantly trying to solve. Problem is, I'm incapable of solving a Rubix cube. . . and so I write songs because they're more like soduko. Or sudoku. Or sodoku. You know what I mean ;-)
Thank you so much for collabing with me this month and for trusting me to play around with your cello track!! It was a lot of fun!!
I just wanted to try and include all the world time zones and FAWMers :)
Fancy doing this one tomorrow too ? No one has claimed it :( It's the last one not taken I think.
SS022722f Noon GMT (4am PST, 7am EST)
Host: AVAILABLE
Morning Andy :) I have added you to that Noon GMT skirmish that you requested :)
I'm not certain I'm going to be able to get to my morph before the end of the month.
Yes please! Yay!
I’d love that if they’re open to people from other regions. I haven’t attended a write in in a long time, and Camp NaNo is coming up in April…
I’m in the NaSoAlMo one but not a NaNoWriMo specific one, although I am in an urban fantasy group that sprung from NaNo.
Thanks so much for your comments on I Married An IT Guy! I really appreciate it. I am racing towards the finish line now, but will be making next month March Album Listening Month! I will be checking in on your work.
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Love lasts forver". I've used about 80% of Nates lyrics and gave them a twist of black gothic humour. Now I'm curious about the movie you had in your mind cause I also habe one xD
I wish I had said, "EasyShed"
andy! you have no need to apologize. you get to have your own interpretation. I just was surprised to know that it came off so different than I intended. which means my feelings that my writing sucks this year we’re right.. something is off. it just means I’ll have to take another stab at it.
I’m doing ok. just feel a little overly fragile. :/
Andy, Thanks for your comments on Friendship Hurts If You Do It Right. You'll notice I responded to you ON MY OWN PAGE! Rookie mistake! I wasn't ignoring you, just being brain-dead! :)
@greengrassgirl 2 weeks
Thanks, @andygetch I'm delighted that @Colgood has picked this up. I love her songs!
Thanks for the comments on Second Chance, Andy. Much appreciated!
yikes :/ was definitely not going for codependency or creepy. was actually just meant to be about a lost ghost wanting to find a home. my writing definitely sucks this year. thanks for taking the time though
Andy - thanks so much for listening to Cut Rate Crystal Ball. I like your Baseball Shop/Pawnshop setting. I think hanging out in pawnshops and laundromats would be enough material for a lifetime of songwriting.
Hi Andy! Thanks for the comments on Passing Through. Yes, I like using objects and specifics to illustrate ideas...even those with different favorite particulars seem to get it.
....aaand another one.
Your cello track has proven to be very fruitful.
Thank you.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much.
Thanks for the kind words on Weather Report!
I'm KateStantonSings at NaNoWriMo. Any groups you recommend to help with lyrics/poetry/prose?
Yes, I’ve heard of Awendaw Green though haven’t been out there myself just yet
It was great fun! Thank you for sending me that cello track!
I might actually get another tune out of it if you're willing.
....aaand here's the Ambient piece.
It's kinda dark.
I hope you don't mind the title.
Thanks, Andy!! I’ll check it out.
Thank you for your kind words
Hi! Thanks for your encouraging comment
Thanks for checking out Spherion Slave For All Time. The public domain film using is Attack From Space and actually it has a pretty good soundtrack. https://archive.org/details/Attack_From_Space
This my 8th FAWM and i’ve used public domain sci-fi or industrial films as inspiration for a majority of my FAWM tracks. Works well for me.
Glad you liked it.
Good, I'm glad you liked it!
Done the Slothcore track.
I hope you like it! :)
Got your email; oh it's glorious!
Maybe a couple of songs from that, if you don't mind.
First I think might be a Slothcore track...
And then maybe some Ambient sounds...
Thank you so much for your comment on What the Body Knows, Andy!
I’d love for you to put music to “The Ocean's Symphony”. Feel free to modify the lyrics as you see fit. I look forward to hearing what you drum up.
OK this explains a lot thanks. 20 days left for 5 people to work on a song. This can be busy!
I did not even realise I already hit the 14 because I don't count drafts and snippets. Just wanted to link all the stuff I've been involved. I have 3 collabs running, that morph challenge and maybe another random collab. If I manage to write another songs that's OK, if not, I got enough to do with the collabs and drafts.
Thanks a lot for explaining! So its closer to writing a new song than remixing. I'll listen to your recommendation later. I'll be the last in my chain so I have no idea when to start. Will people contact me?
When I saw that morph topic last year, I didn't understand. Though being utterly busy, I feel like I should try. I loved to do remixes and rearrangements. Do you get original stems or do you steal some lyrics and chords and interprete it in a different way?
Hey Andy
I just noticed that I'm reaching my capacity limits. When I finish all the collabs I started I already reached my FAWM goal. I will cancel some challenges but I still have a morph challenge open, something I never tried and missed last year. I may write another 2-3 songs then I'm done for this year o_O still haven't finished my 2021 album!
Should I put you onto my list and we collab whenever things settle? Could be end of the year or 2023...
No problem, whenever you want!
No rush!
Hy! Are you still interested in the cello collab? I got some lyrics now :-)
Hey Andy,
you can find all the missing pieces in the tagline of the songs and their song info. I keep them updated on a daily basis. I can't finish most of my drafts without a proper vocalist and guitarist. Just comment when you want to become a part of it :-)
Right now I'm too busy to start new ping-pong co-writes. I'm already involved in 2 and I promissed another. If one at least one of these is done in a sketch-like state, we can talk. But this won't happen next week.
Thank you so much! I recorded something with my acoustic yesterday. My timing is such a pain! And i don't know how to fix that. Maybe I leave it like that, upload it and find some takers. I didn't expect it to be so hard to record something on a real instrument... with a smartphone on my lap ...
Hey Andy, Just chiming in. Have a great Feb
-Russ
Thanks for your comment! I googled a bit and someone else seemed to have this weird genre combination for me. Happens.
Thanks for the listen and the note. "The Ballad of El Goodo" my be my favorite song of all time.
thanks Andy! you too!
And I recorded it while I wolfed a FAWMburger! Why haven't we been using this lingo more?!?! (Thank you for the kind comment!)
Have a wonderful 2022 (and FAWM)!!
Yay thanks - have a great FAWM! Looking forward to hearing what you come up with :)
Thanks, Andy. Ditto! Let's see what the old muse will let us do in 2022.
Hey Andy! Any minute now!!
Have a super fawm!
Yep, made sure to get my PE before pursuing music full time :) I now consult part time for the solar industry. The technical helps balance out the creative :) Happy FAWMing!
On your marks.....Get set.....Watch out, here it comes!
Have a fantastic FAWM my friend.
Hiya!
Official greetings on all the sites and hangouts!
Sure, I'm up for a just-for-fun collab. Don't expect great things though. My main instrument is piano, I can manage guitar, bass or flute if it's nothing too involved. Yngwie Malmsteen I ain't. Voice is baritone.
Good to see you here too! Just a couple days away! Woot! Have a great FAWM!
Hi! Happy FAWMing to you!
Andy!!!
hi Andy!! thank you! I hope all is well with you. can’t believe another year is here.. kinda feeling a bit in the dark already
Thanks for your support - I will try your explanation bout using Garageband in the next days ... to make experiments with sounds often leads into hours of trying and finding out and getting surprised bout the Mac and me :-)))
But I am much more interested in collabs cause last year I made the experience of this magical way that two people, who don't even talked to another can communicate through music and poems - it was so amazing! I will leave a notice on your soundboard when Ii am ready to start the collab, ok?
thank you, have a great FAWM too!
Hi Andy, glad you're back in the songwriting shack! Looking forward to hearing your guitaring, too. Cheers--Andrew
Hey Andy, I was just reading about your progress on the cello.
Perhaps a collab is in order?
Me playing over some random cello noises from you?
What do you think?
No pressure, tho.
Hey Andy! Thanks for the kind words. :) Happy Fawming!
Andy! Your music makes me smile and think! Looking forward to hearing more and maybe enjoy some challenges and collabs with you!
Hey Andy! Happy FAWM!
Hey Andy, hope all is well. Yeah a collab may be something to try.
Thanks for the good wishes, and the same to you. On past showing a good FAWM for me is one where I actually write something, but we shall see.
Andy!!!
A team unite! We're going to have a killer year, I'm feeling it!
Just popping in to say it was nice to see you in the chat last night :)
Thanks for the nice welcome back, Andy! I'll be tuning into your songs.
Welcome back to fawm! Always good to see you here
Thanks for the good wishes. Same to you!
I don't do much collaboration except for coming up with music for songs my wife writes. It's not that I'm against it, just not sure of what I'm doing.
Usually I have some idea of music while I'm writing words, but not always. If some no-music words come along this year, I'd be happy to have you take a look at them...if that's the kind of thing that interests you.
Hi Andy. I'll be around a little, but not as much as I'd like. I have no studio at the moment. I'll be around commenting though, and hopefully being able to squeeze out some songs.
