Influences: Anne Sylvestre, Juliette, Leo Ferre, Georges Brassens et Noir Desir
Weeks 1 and 2 of february 2022: Sooo... A bad cough makes it hard to record song. I had to change computer and install again DAW and VSTs. And an annoying cut on my finger makes it impossible to perform some chords.
But I'm still here and writing. I should be able to post my first song soon.
Week 3 : kids are away for a week, I'm doing as much recording as I can.
Week 4 : Back with the kids and away from home. Luckily I have those recordings that just need to be mixed and published.

Thanks for your nice comment on Pretty. Much appreciated. Only just discovered your music and listening today. I like anyone who lists Brassens and Ferre as influences.
Thanks for the comments. I like your interpretation of One More Day To Get Through, it's fun how you can write any of thing and see if any meaning comes out!
Thanks for your nice comment on my song Your Allure, jut popped in and saw it. Thanks.
oh, thank you so much for your comment and for listening! Do you speak a bit German?
Thanks so much for all your lovely and thoughtful comments on my posts. I truly appreciate it. The Youtube laundry video was pretty funny. A little more going on in that than attraction - haha. Thanks for sharing that :)
I was really moved how you noticed all those aspects on "Kaksin karkuteillä". I am a huge fan of Aki Kaurismäki, and now that you said it, I see also the similarities... That we have the same kind of style of combining sadness & humour... or something.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments on Breakaway and Exactly What She Means. I loved that you had so much to say about Kathy’s (@kcflowers) guitar playing and singing. FAWM provided such a big push for her to make recordings of a set of songs as an album. She’s excited about learning Garageband this summer so that she can move beyond phone recordings for FAWM ‘23
Hi Ambroise,
I know Poitiers. We stayed there when we went to Futuroscope.
I live in Catalunya - we would like to be independent of Spain.
Hilarious YouTube you shared. I had never seen that. And thanks kindly for taking a listen to "Window To Your Soul".
Thanks for stopping by, checking out the songs and leaving the kind comments. Really appreciate it. :)
Thanks for giving some more of my songs a listen. Whereabouts in France are you from? Or are you from Quebec?
Salut! Et oui tu peux me parler en français! ;)
Hi Ambroise,
the chunky melodic percussion sound in my song "The Witch" is a palm muted Bluegrass Mandolin.
Glad you liked the song.
great. email me withan idea if you have, or I will email you back with one in a few hours. REad the new forum page carefully first.

Excellent! :)
if there was one more GIMME15 would you (and your trumpeter) play again? asking for a friend
Thank you for your thoughtful comments on my song, Smile (https://fawm.org/songs/127021/), and thank you for the YouTube link for Tony Joe White. I'm a little ashamed I've never heard of him, but really enjoyed the track you linked to, and I've been listening to his other music, too.
Thank you my friend. Would you like to play this game with us?

You can do your part in French, except for the phrase "tit4tat".
Let me know if you have any questions. Game starts in 24 hours from now.
:)
Bernardo has a bother? I guess he may well. Who also makes movies? That would be a big shadown to live beneath while at the same time opening some doors.
I do hope you enjoy ZOO. My mind is drawn to it's images, structure, concerns, and indeed soundtrack very offten.
Thanks for the comment on my collaboration with Stephen Wordsmith. :)
merci, mon ami! :)
The song you mentioned was fantastic!
I'll be back...
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Hollywood Queen". I have a love hate relationship on social media. I cannot live without because I don't know people in real life who share my hobbies - on the other hand I hate these, aesthetics, faking and algorithms. The "disappear without a trace" is to influences because they are too present. I'm utterly disturbed seeing their faces again and again...
"tweaked" is the correct spelling - and that's a perfect word, that I'm sure means exactly what you mean it to. Thank you for the kind words. I shall repay your visit gladly, by tomorrow at the latest. I wish you a happy week ahead! I hope Spring is appearing in delightful ways for you. :)
PS if our #tit4tat continues please feel free to comment in French, so I can have fun trying to translate, both from my poor French and the craziness that Google translate might make of it. It might be interesting and fun :)
Thanks for your comment on the reading books in the bath song. These books in particular are fluffy "fated mate" romances, so the "fated" isn't ironic, since it's promising the characters (and therefore the readers) a happy ending.
Thanks a lot for listening back abd commenting!
On "La Machinerie" I thought about the ever repeating cycle of people working. Do rather the technological process.
On "How are you"... the instrumental was first abd @lmr did a frigging good job in lyrics and vocals. This is not the final version, we will rerecord this with real instruments and refine the vocals. Thanks for the comment on the arrangement, this won't change :)
Ah thank you. I like the snow theme. I still play "Marilou repose sous la neige" at gigs if I can sneak it in!
:)
Re: #tit4tat I just didn't want to obligate people to listen to me if our musical tastes are mutually exclusive. Once I finish the list, I'll definitely be back to listen to more of your songs. I generally find people do tit4tat one at a time anyway. :)
(The "1 to start" was not my phrasing.)
Ha i sang differently this year not like in symphony, i normally get compared to Cohen all the time! Not an advert but if you are interested go to https://johnnicholson.bandcamp.com/album/the-road-ahead Then you will here my Cohen!
My french is not too bad, i am just very out of practice, answer in french if you wish! :-)
You have #tit4tat on 2 of mine counting the one you asked.
Ha ha! I didn't need a translation to follow that cartoon! Thanks for sharing it.
I wonder if anyone has shared a cartoon as a skirmish prompt in the past?
Thx for kind words on The Butterfly Dance..I love creating songs based on imagery ..i am glad you enjoyed it
Congrats on reaching the finish line! Will be listening this month for sure :)
Endlessly delayed but current plan is Aug 1st
It’s a dragon! :D Thanks for your comment on Butterfly!
Congrats on the 14! In response to "Standards" it is about Boris Johnson, and the fear I have with him being in power during an international conflict - which I guess is not as obvious as I thought!
That was so considerate of you! I have also used the soundboard to comment on Zongs so that more people could find them. Late songs often get few listeners once they come off the zong list.
Thanks for all your detailed and thoughtful comments on my songs. They mean a lot to me. I'll just respond briefly to some of the things that stood out to me:
1. Your Brain is Running Out of Storage: I'm glad you liked the guitar parts, and indeed it is the phrygian scale, with a sharpened 4th thrown in here and there for spice. In the Hindustani Classical tradition, the phrygian scale appears in many ragas, but its most notable counterpart is called raga 'Bhairavi.' Although I wasn't really thinking in terms of Hindustani music, but I suppose I always end up defaulting to those style of riffs because that's what's been hardwired into me.
2. When the Fog Lifts: It's interesting to learn the French phrase for this, and the shift of tone depending on whether it 'lifts' or 'disappears.' Always love learning little facts about other languages and cultures like this.
3. Paper Boat: Again, super grateful of how supportive you are of my voice. I do know what notes I have to hit, but I sort of wander into them rather than hitting them head on. This is a result of lack of practice, but I think this FAWM has given me plenty of motivation to counter my insecurity and get back to practicing. The drums during the vocal solo are normal rock drums by the way, and during the rest of the song, it's this instrument called dholak. I don't have either of those, so they're both MIDI programmed. And the slidey string instrument is just regular old electric guitar :)
I listened to your songs too, and I love your grooves, your guitar and harmonica arrangements. I find the subjects you write about pretty interesting, and I'm so glad you leave translations for everything. The translations themselves seem pretty good to me, and can be songs on their own.
Finally, congratulations on reaching the finish line! It's been great hearing your songs, and I hope you keep making more, and keep learning. Cheers!
I can't think of any good reason you're not on my watchlist. So you are now. Love your musical sense!
Wow, you've really been busy! I need to get back to listening....well done!
I look forward to hearing more! If you ever need some bass, happy to provide it. j$
I would definitely recommend "I Often Dream of Trains" by Robyn Hitchcock and "And Don't The Kids Just Love It" by the TVPs.
Hey, thanks for your comments on my songs. I really appreciate it :)
Re "Body Parts" - Yes the organ was only included because I liked the pun, obviously! :)
