Influences: Queer folk musicians (and queer folks in general), the songwriting communities at the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Rocky Mountain Song School, my mental health, and so much more. Dar Williams, Danny Schmidt, Ellis Delaney, Joe Stevens, Steve Dawson, Mary Gauthier...the list goes on.

Hey, FAWM friends! I’m Alyx.
I’m a white, queer, transmasculine/non-binary human with an increasingly impressive beard. I write songs, and have been doing so off and on for most of my life. I write most of my first drafts with a fountain pen, because it makes me feel fancy. I’ve turned out to be a better guitar player than I ever thought I could be (which is to say: I play passably), and that’s mostly what I write for, but sometimes when I get stuck I reach for other instruments. (May of 2020 I picked up the most gorgeous octave mandolin.) I live in St. Paul, MN with my husband, @fecknom, who is also a musician, and our doggo, Nova, a husky mix we adopted in August.
I'd be hard-pressed to name a single genre I don't like at least *something* from. Most of what I write is folky, but I enjoy listening to everything from classical music to death metal.
2022 will be FAWM number five for me! I have NO idea if I’ll get anything of substance done this year, though, as I’ve just started seminary. We shall see!

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my song “Planet and Moon” and for the kind words, Alyx.
I really apprrciate the continued encouragement from you.
If my fingerpicking is solid, you can probably credit the Old Town School for that!
Thank you for your comment on “Lilith of the Sea.” I’m glad you enjoyed it!
"Thinking back to last year, it sounds like you’re getting more comfortable finding your voice - you sound great here!
I love this so much."
Thanks for the thoughtful comment on my little gospel song. I'm really glad you liked it. Took me back to when my band was playing hymns for the church where we met each other.
Not sure I'm any more comfortable with my voice... but I guess I'm faking it better. :D
Diolch yn fawr! Mae'n wych da chi'n hoffi'r can!
Thank you for your kind comment on “Stuck in my Throat”.
Thanks for your comment on 'I Don't Love You Anymore'. I'm glad the sincerity is clear.
I went to read the Wild Geese poem after listening to your song, and they're both so beautiful. You wrote such an amazing song to such an amazing poem. Both resonated with me and left me with watery eyes early in the day, in a good way. Thank you!
Also, noticed you've left Chicago. Hope you're staying warm up in St. Paul!
Thanks for the comment!! I'm excited for your stuff this year
