Dar Williams, Danny Schmidt, Ellis Delaney, Joe Stevens, Steve Dawson, Mary Gauthier...the list goes on.

Hey, FAWM friends! I’m Alyx.
I’m a white, queer, transmasculine/non-binary human with an increasingly impressive beard. I write songs, and have been doing so off and on for most of my life. I write most of my first drafts with a fountain pen, because it makes me feel fancy. I’ve turned out to be a better guitar player than I ever thought I could be (which is to say: I play passably), and that’s mostly what I write for, but sometimes when I get stuck I reach for other instruments. (May of 2020 I picked up the most gorgeous octave mandolin.) I live in St. Paul, MN with my husband, @fecknom, who is also a musician, and our doggo, Nova, a husky mix we adopted in August.
I'd be hard-pressed to name a single genre I don't like at least *something* from. Most of what I write is folky, but I enjoy listening to everything from classical music to death metal.
2022 will be FAWM number five for me! I have NO idea if I’ll get anything of substance done this year, though, as I’ve just started seminary. We shall see!

Thanks for the thoughtful comment on my little gospel song. I'm really glad you liked it. Took me back to when my band was playing hymns for the church where we met each other.
Not sure I'm any more comfortable with my voice... but I guess I'm faking it better. :D -
