Influences: Other FAWM musicians. Crap art. Mad poets.
Pronouns: he/they. The gender binary is like Newtonian color theory: two scientifically unsound ideas that just won't go away.
In 2018, I did FAWM Squared, Fourteen 14-track improvised albums. When I completed my 14th, I celebrated with a 15th. Then to help the community hit a song-count milestone, I did two more albums on the last day.

Interested in doing a collaboration? Have I earwormed you enough you want to cover one of them? Free free.
Pretty much all of my stuff is released Creative Commons Attribution, which is similar to Public Domain in nearly every aspect except that you need to credit me.
You can make derivatives. You can use traditional copyright on your stuff. You make all the money, etc. You _just_ need to credit me.
I'm also giving explicit permission to feel free to post without waiting for me to approve it. You already have permission.

After FAWM, how do you want to attribute me?
My bandname is "yam655".
My website is https://yam655.com
My legal (and anonymous) name is: Steven Black
I don't care how you attribute me, as long as you attribute me. When in doubt, "Steven Black (https://yam655.com/)" is always good.

What am I doing in 2022? I don't really know. I tend to be a bit of an overachiever, but I'm also pretty lazy. I can write a lyric in ~10 minutes, but I don't want to just write lyrics. I've upgraded my Band in a Box, and I'd like some songs with traditional instruments and structures. I love sheet music, so I'd like to post a lead sheet or two.
There's a good chance I won't do improvised acapella this year. When transcription time is included, it is much faster to just post a lyric these days.
---
2022-01-22: I'm thinking of doing a quick improvised acapella album about pronouns and calling it "Transphobes Don't Like Pronouns." I've been experimenting with transcribing my lyrics with Otter AI, and it has been doing a better job than when I tried using the YouTube auto-transcribe feature. I'll start with one that will also be my #FirstFruits and talk about abandoning any deity that refuses to see and acknowledge who you are.
2022-02-01: I managed to bite my tongue yesterday in a manner that felt worse and worse as the day grew on. I don't remember when it happened, but it isn't inviting a lot of mouth wiggling. What is my solution when something like this happens?
(A few minutes later): I wrote lyrics to a song about my tongue hurting. I was thinking about singing it while I made breakfast, and the thought occurred to me that a deity -- offended by my pronoun album -- has tried to strike me down. If that's how it's going, I guess my original plans are unchanged. I'll be singing the pronoun album today.
2022-02-05: I realized I wasn't putting effort in finishing to my Pronoun album, so I decided not to do it. These things happen, and I have plenty of other ideas for albums.

Thanks for your comments on my song I really liked what you wrote
Sent you an email about the super collab!
"I regularly sing songs about pickles" made me laugh out loud today!! THANK YOU.
Thanks for the hookpad.hooktheory.com link! I will definitely check that out. February is usually very busy month for me so that's one of the reasons why my songs are without melodies, if I've managed to invent one. So much to do, but I'll promise to organize my time better. :)
I don't have a thread for the haunted banjo, I wasn't sure if people were going to do it. I'm giving it a try later this week!
Hey thanks for the feedback on the introvert song. Yeah I definitely didn’t play into the original game of the song so I could definitely incorporate that. I discovered there is a quirky game in itself of singing the main part in chest voice and the backup in chest voice and in performance I could intentionally mess up and make that a bit but also another pass at lyrics might be fun.
Your children are right, flowers are shameless exhibitionists. And the bees and butterflies only encourage their lewd behavior!
Thanks for the inspiration provided by your “What to Eat” lyrics! Here’s what I did with it: https://fawm.org/songs/126892/
Awesome! I'll send you a Google Docs file and a guide track soon once I have all that done. You will be playing the role of Frozona the mystical Northern ice wizard.
Yes. This song is going to be completely insane.
and that's all good, you got a lot of other lyrics to choose from!
Hey Yam, I'm planning a multi-part multi-collab and I was wondering if you wanted to do vocals on one section of the song? It's going to be this crazy thing about a bunch of gathering characters headed to a remote snowy location on an old Greyhound bus for a gold rush.
FAWM = speed dating. Got it! :) Thanks for the comment, it's good to be back. I will now stop trying to be good and be more bad. Check. :D Perhaps even suck at what I'm doing. And here I thought that I already did since composing and making lyrics is a new thing to me. But can't wait what I, you and everyone else I manage to check out here creates. FAWM is awesome!
Cool... I will finish up the reggae music in a day or so and send it over to you...
@yam655 I have a reggae song I started writing...in Em....something you would want to put some words/vocals to?
Thanks for listening and commenting in "Skyscraper". Oh yes this collab has been fun. Sometimes it's good to follow weird ideas ^^
On your marks.....Get set.....Watch out, here it comes!
Have a fantastic FAWM my friend.
I think the word is “Eureka!” Thanks for those helpful suggestions. I may not choose to do a Skirmish using this method, unless it was a 24 hour Skirmish BUT it is doable..
I travel with an iPad , and I fly home on Sunday, so next week I have my computer again. I have been fussing with converting the file for days, but what you have told me makes sense. If I post on the Fawm hosting site before Sunday, then I have had success with a couple technology goals. Thanks for the help.
Glad to see you back here this year!
Welcome to FAWM!
No worries on the long post, I was doing something similar until I was gently reeled in. Will be emailing you :)
You again accused me of something I didn't do. (Different stuff this time). Precisely, if something quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it can be a not a duck. To suppose one can differentiate between stuff that one can't differentiate between is an act of arrogance, baseless and incoherent (nevermind rude if one accuses other people).
You are being rude, above that. Again I ask you to correct yourself, to follow the ways of FAWM.
Hello! I am indeed back for FAWM this year, and am delighted you are too! I have you watchlisted and look forward to listening to your music, and although we kind of fell down in 50/90 after the first, hopefully we can get in a collab too as you suggested!
Just dropping in to say how much I appreciate your comments in the forums. If you'd like some ambient backing instrumentation for your pronoun album I'd be happy to contribute.
I am sorely tempted to buy Hookpad after it took me only a half hour to get almost four bars of complete song (with chords) and understand the basics of how it works....sans music theory. Is there any reason I shouldn't, as opposed to something like Band in a Box? I can't imagine I'd want to do anything that complicated with this - but having an actual nice-sounding guitar backing, percussion, and maybe some accent sounds to my vocals would be so amazing. I feel like Hookpad would suit that. I'd appreciate your input. :) And thank you.
Hi.
It'd be a nice gesture to correct what you blamed me for, which was baseless.
Just saying
Happy FAWM!!
#Binauralbeans seems right up your alley. If you're up for a quick collab, I think I can generate a binaural beat in my daw for you to ramble over XD
Mr. Yam, my mom says you are amazing for a person's immune system, did ya know? :P
an official hello and thanks for hosting so many of the Tuesday Zooms!
Good FAWMvibes to you, sir!
Happy FAWMing! Have a productive and fun month!
Thanks! Good luck :)
Howdy! Happy FAWMing, friend-O. I'll be around.
Howdy, Yam! Great to see you here. Hope you have another wonderful FAWM!
Happy FAWM! See you on Tuesdays!
Hey Yam! Hope you have a good FAWM this year.
