I am back for year 3! I write on guitar and piano. I am primarily a finger style player and love playing in different tunings. I also love collaborating, both by turning your lyrics into songs, or by creating lyrics and a melody for your instrumental track. One of the very best parts of FAWM for me :) The second best part of FAWM is getting to listen to so much wonderful music and seeing such creativity! I love to listen and to comment, and am inspired by all of you.

@sheslin Thank you so much for your specific comments on what you liked about Ghost of a Chance. I agree that @Gwyn really did a fabulous job. I write the lyrics and voila! He comes up with all the rest and I am always delighted! Thank you for your comments on our collab.

  • @oswlek Mar 2022

Thank you very much for giving Tiny Grass and Together a spin and for leaving such generous, detailed comments, Susan. I appreciate it. :)

  • @wolfkier Mar 2022

Thanks for the visits and kind words, I want to respect your stated #tit4tat limit, (3) but feel free to continue on with our excanges with wild disabandon whenever you choose. :)
If I don't see you/hear you sooner, I'm hoping we cross paths during 5090! And I wish you happy tit4tatting ahead!

  • @nancycunning  Mar 2022

Susan - thanks so much for your thoughtful responses to Demolition Expert and Someone Forgot to Tell Me. I love how clearly you see into the lyrics. I’m enjoying listening to your songs and look forward to hearing the rest. I’d love to have you work some of your magic on one of my lyrics some day - at FAWM ‘23 or 50/90 unless your still in business this month.

  • @stephenwordsmith  Mar 2022

Thank you for your kind comment, and indeed the compliment - there will be a spot for you on my dance card next FAWM (and potentially several in 5090, if you take part in that).

  • @apolez3  Mar 2022

Thanks, yeah that song was powerful... We should do something next year!! xoxo

  • @n24  Mar 2022

Wow Susan, thank you for all your comments! It’s such a delight to receive such lovely feedback and I really appreciate all your input and thoughts!

  • @ltunes  Mar 2022

Thanks for the comments on My Lare Winter Heart. Liz's lyrics just sing off the page. This was my first collaboration and Liz made it an amazing experience.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

You're welcome! Some people join 50/90 in July - September for that reason. I probably won't cause I have too many things on my plate.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting! I am honoured to read your words about songwriting in many genres :) it's fun you picked the soft side to listen to. This FAWM has been very dark and heavy. I plan to rerecord most songs in larger teams and better quality in the next months.

I didn't understand the morph challenge until I tried one. Basically you listen to the song of the person before you and modify 50% of the song. You could write bew lyrics, change the chords, instruments, whatever. @nateger did an acoustic jazz track so I took some of his chords, some of his lyrics but changed the overall mood. The next one does the same with my song. It's very challenging but fun! Maybe just pick a morph chain and listen to all songs from beginning to end.

  • @angelinapowersuit Mar 2022

Thanks so much for your comments on "Let's Sit. . . " I am folky to a fault, haha.

  • @actualjulian  Feb 2022

Hey Susan! Thank you so much for your kind feedback on The Memory of Everything. I hope that this year has been outstanding for you. Congratulations on finishing in year 3! May the FAWM be with you ALWAYS

  • @pvk2020 Feb 2022

Happy Fawm. Have a good year creating

  • @trolls2 Feb 2022

you're welcome for the support-i don't know as my song influences actually show up in my music but they are there nonetheless!! and yes i really liked A Tiny Crack!!

  • @paulharrison  Feb 2022

Thanks for your nice comments on Thumb-body Special, Susan, and for the well wishes. I suspect it may need editing if/when I put it to music, but for now it was a fun diversion. "Write what you know," right?

  • @n24  Feb 2022

Thanks Susan, it has been such a pleasure to have worked with you and gotten to know you better. I’m very proud of our collaboration :)

  • @crisp1  Feb 2022

The Reason You Breathe is all yours, Susan!

  • @paulharrison  Feb 2022

Well, the track would have to wait. My recording was on my phone. I just had trigger thumb surgery so I can't play guitar for a week or two. I don't mind doing that later but in the meantime I could just send my chord chart and you can see what you can do with it. I'll send it along and try it if you like. If it doesn't work for you, I'll try plan B when I can play again.

  • @paulharrison  Feb 2022

Hi Susan. Thanks for your very kind comments on A Seaside Chat. That would be great to hear a version from you. Do you want me to email my chord and lyrics chart or do you prefer to "interpret?"

  • @feb21sundari Feb 2022

Thank you for the comments you gave to My nerdy mate

  • @daveyboy103  Feb 2022

  • @monty  Feb 2022

I added you as a collaborator on The Bench. Thanks for taking it on.

  • @jmso91  Feb 2022

P.S thank you for your comment on my recent lyrics, yes you totally understood the meaning, it is conflicting that significant people pop into our heads on their birthday even if they weren't nice. I'm trying something new today so we'll see how that goes!

  • @jmso91  Feb 2022

Ahh I'm glad to hear that. Thank you very much x

  • @n24  Feb 2022

Amazing! I’m excited to see what you come up with :)

  • @n24  Feb 2022

Hey thanks for the lovely comment, I’d love to collab if you wanted to do the music :) I’d be pretty happy for you to interpret the music however you’d like, but this is my first collab so I don’t know exactly how it’s done!

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

Susan, I LOVE what you did with My Man of Few Words! Such a lovely delivery, and the piano is just right. The song ends, and then I immediately hit Replay because I don't want that mood to end. Thank you so much for bringing your vision to this lyric. I'm very pleased.

  • @bjunker  Feb 2022

Thanks for the comments on Weather Report! You're right, it's an alternate tuning: a variation on an old time banjo tuning I like: CGCGCD.

  • @bjunker  Feb 2022

Thanks for the generous thoughts on "Enough"!

  • @jmso91  Feb 2022

Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my song! I've fallen off the wagon a little bit due to some extenuating circumstances but hopefully will carry on soon. Comments like yours are really motivating :)

  • @jorgevallentine Feb 2022

Thanks for listening to "When Summer Comes Home"!

I love using parallels and repetition in my lyrics, so once I start something (like starting the song with something about the summer) it feels very natural to then talk about fall and winter, especially in a song where I'm thinking back and then also looking ahead to the future.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment!

  • @leakyplusme2 Feb 2022

Thank you Susan for your kind words.

  • @daveyboy103  Feb 2022

    Thanks for your kind feedback.

  • @apolez3  Feb 2022

hi, it's not that about a loss for the perfection concept idea that i had, I'm working on so many at once and well these got finished first, sometimes new ones come about working on something else and that get's done first... I'll get back to you when I get it done~ I'll brought it to the forefront of my mind letting it linger and simmer for some inspiration to write about it hoe you'll like :)Thanks for your comment though on the 'Talk about the weather instead of complaining to me' & 'Duct Tape' ~

  • @apolez3  Feb 2022

https://fawm.org/songs/127451/ Would you like to take on those lyrics or wait for others?

A friend of mine is looking at Guilty for a collab so off the table at the moment but honestly appreciate your enthusiasm.

Always up for a chat and a chance to make something new though

  • @cloudhopper Feb 2022

    thanks for your kind comment
thats not a guitar but a Turkish baglama

  • @bobskyyoung  Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind comments on More Than Enough.

FYI, I do have a cadence in mind for it and I'll probably write music for it as well (I need to be in a different head space for that). But...if you want to give it a shot, I'm all ears :)

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

I think a common thought in that thread is to not give the first song that much thought, or you might get bogged down and it could affect the rest of FAWM. That's definitely my main reason for going with the surf style, which comes out of my guitar noodling pretty quickly. For the 5/4 one, I did wake up with the title in my head, "Book 'Em Dano (Hawaii Five-4)", which directed me to 5/4, but even then the song itself didn't stay there. I just kind of went in and out of time signatures, wherever the song took me. If your first song just kind of falls out, it usually is a good sign for FAWM, at least for me. Songs tend to fall out more for me when I am having fun, so I just stick with that theme. :)

  • @heuristicsinc  Jan 2022

Cool, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for you...

  • @jorh  Jan 2022

    Hey,
Hope you have a great FAWM :) looking forward to hearing your music!!

  • @apolez3  Jan 2022

Awesome, can't wait! :) I have an idea for the lyrics being about 'perfect' the perception of it basically..,. and probably more stemming off of that; how does that sound?

  • @apolez3  Jan 2022

Hi, Happy FAWMing!!, perhaps we can Collaborate! I'd write the lyrics...

  • @kahlo2013  Jan 2022

Hi Susan! Looking forward to FAWMing, connecting, listening, and collaborating!
