Jeff, I'm so glad you liked Steve's version of The Love We Never Had. Now I"m going to have to go research Welch & Rawlings and Bonnie Prince Billy. Your praise means a lot.

  • @nancycunning  Mar 2022

Thanks, Jeff - I would absolutely love to connect and collaborate at 50/90 or even in the off months, depending on what your constraints are like.

  • @nancycunning  Mar 2022

Jeff - just stumbled into your world and I love it. Are you doing 50/90? I’d love to connect there or next year on FAWM.

  • @majormajormajormajor  Mar 2022

You should hear how pitchy that vocal track was, a first take that I didn't bother to refine because of what I planned to do to it. Ah, one day I'll pony up for a real pitch correcter that costs money. But your point is well taken, and I do plan to go back and make the parts of this 'concept EP' less different/more harmonized, in the general sense, and a natural vocal take will be in the offing for certain.

  • @nadine Mar 2022

Thanks for listening to "Disco Blues" and I am happy that you enjoyed :) It will take some time until we finished, so we won't update on FAWM. Rather SoundCloud.

  • @oswlek Mar 2022

You're the best, Jeff. A true inspiration and a true friend.

  • @edward9thstreet Mar 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on "Searching For A Dancer," I appreciate it! Way to go with all your compositions and collabs, very impressive.

  • @tukayandryan  Mar 2022

Congrats on reaching the finishing line! Looking forward to listening to more of your songs this month!

  • @actualjulian  Feb 2022

Thanks for the love this year Jeff! May the FAWM be with you!

  • @carleybaer  Feb 2022

Thank you for the sweet comment! (and sorry for my late reply) I'm really glad you've been enjoying the tunes, and thank you for saying so because part of me feels like I should be better about having a "sound" or a "genre" but I always decide that I'd rather just have fun. :)

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Lost and Found', Jeff!

  • @majormajormajormajor  Feb 2022

Btw, it's interesting to hear your experience w guard and guide- thanks yet again! As I put in the notes, I only did it that way after failing a few times at other approaches. I'm not unhappy with it, but I really tried hard to avoid what to me seemed like the song 'wanted to be'. So after FAWM I'll have to give it another look

  • @majormajormajormajor  Feb 2022

Not sophomoric at all- I've got all of the music and half the lyrics composed to finish the story but the all important climax which I haven't touched and now it's crunch time. I really appreciate your comment, and it's helping me to bring that final piece into focus. Then all that remains is to quick assemble it all and not leave too much hot glue showing. Woohoo! (And best of luck to you in your own rush to the finish)

  • @quoththellama Feb 2022

Hey Jeff! Thanks for your comments on The Contortionist, and Drag Me Down. Always nice to get positive feedback from a respectable fella such as yourself :)

  • @majormajormajormajor  Feb 2022

That may well be the original Texas Jerusalem Crossroads. I first heard it on a dubbed cassette (which seems to have seen some kind of distribution because I've run into several people who have it) from a friend who had lived in Denton and hung out with them and I think there were fewer tracks, but it was a long time ago. Then the guys from the Cocteau Twins signed them to Bella Union and remixed it to be a little more dream-poppy. Unfortunately it also lost a bit of the visceral quality of the demo mix. I can highly recommend the 2017 rerelease, where elements were added in a couple places and it was remixed in a way that left it even more muscular and huge sounding- plus it has the most ridiculous, over the top album art I have ever seen, bar none, which comes across great with the vinyl if you go in for that.

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Madness', limiting oneself to under 2 minutes is not easy!

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

I don't know, Jeff. I'm pretty shaken up about this deception on your part. I'll have to get back to you.

  • @majormajormajormajor  Feb 2022

Hope you hear something you like, though no LTE type stuff this year, at least not yet. And yeah, totally obscure, but I occasionally name drop because more people ought to know about that record. It was great both in the original 'demo' mix and the slightly softer Bella Union one, but when Josh went back and remixed it in 2017, the result was just massive! The breakup following the record I consider one of the most tragic could-have-beens in rock history.

    Yeah- guess I'm a fan

Re: tagging your song for a weekly challenge. There is actually a checkbox for "W3: Polysemy" on the edit tab. For other, forum-driven challenges, usually the forum thread specifies a tag to use in the "tags" field; otherwise, I just link the challenge thread in my liner notes, and in either case post the link to the song in the thread.

  • @toms  Feb 2022

Sounded like shoegaze to me, but like I said, not something I know except in passing! Thank you for the info, the process of song creation is almost always fascinating to me.

  • @toms  Feb 2022

Thank you for the kind comment & the listen!

  • @quoththellama Feb 2022

Hey Jeff, thanks so much for checking out my stuff! I've got a lot of respect for your songwriting chops, so it means a lot that you like my songs :)

  • @edward9thstreet Feb 2022

    Thanks for the listen, Jeff!

  • @davidtaro  Feb 2022

    Thank you, Jeff!!

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

Hey, I shouldn't talk! "Caped Crusader" just uses the four chords every modern song is made of. F-C-G and Am. With a Dm thrown in for good measure at the end of each chorus. Doesn't get much more vanilla than that! :)

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

Thanks so much for checking out "Caped Crusader" and leaving the kind note, Jeff. Next time we chat I have some interesting tidbits to pass along.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Thanks for your very positive comments on Caped Crusader. I am still in awe when I listen myself. Justin is amazing.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2022

You are very welcome, Jeff. It was a pleasure.

  • @redlady8029 Feb 2022

HI Jeff Thanks for commenting on Road Trippin. And thanks for the encouragement.

  • @sdcpaman Feb 2022

@jeff9 Doug's lyrics on Somewhere East of Nashville deserved as many versions as were put up. I like yours a lot. It evokes the mood of the lyric very well. Nice job!!

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind comments on "We Don't Have a Clue"!

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'We Don't Have a Clue'!

  • @crisp1  Feb 2022

I see you put up a goofy novelty song, which I'll have to listen to later (I'm heading off to bed). But I wanted to offer you another lyric that isn't really a novelty song but does have a snippet or two of humor in it (it may be the closest I'll ever come to Prine -- and I'm not even close, but still...). Anyway, let me know if you're up for it and I'll send it to you in the morning (Baku time!).

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind words, Jeff! And thanks for the Richard Shindell tip - I've put him on my list of things to investigate post-FAWM. Much appreciated.

  • @crisp1  Feb 2022

You found a great sound on the guitar for the song, Jeff. The strum pattern, if those are the right words, keeps the story moving along but allows room for that sorrow for an unfulfilled dream that the song is all about. Beautiful vocals as we've all come to expect from you. Thank you!

  • @crisp1  Feb 2022

OK, Jeff. Go for it with Somewhere. Looks like someone else wants to give it a shot too. If you want to talk about it before you start writing the music, we can set up a call.

  • @redlady8029 Feb 2022

    Hi this is Schantell

  • @edward9thstreet Feb 2022

Thanks for the look and kind comments, Jeff. There is truth in the line you liked. :) I'm behind in listening, but I'll get to every one of yours. Always clean and pleasing!

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

Jeff, Thanks for the comments on The Human Condition. Glad you liked the humor!

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

Hey! Don't denigrate AI! Remember, people gave Pink Floyd crap for relying so much on technology back in the day. You're a trend setter!

  • @tuesdaygray Feb 2022

Thanks so much for all your kind comments!

  • @geoff61 Feb 2022

Jeff you're a gent, hope you are really enjoying FAWM

  • @stephentanner  Feb 2022

Thanks Jeff, I was keen on that line myself, glad it stood out to you.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Hi Jeff, yes you did gush to me already in the Muse, but I don't mind hearing it again Thank you so much for all your supportive and kind words!

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the comments on my songs!

  • @geoff61 Feb 2022

Jeff, be my guest my friend :-)

Thanks for the kind words on "Nose for Trouble!" Looking forward to see what you're working on.

  • @oswlek Feb 2022

You are much too kind, Jeff. Thanks for the shout out.

  • @stephentanner  Feb 2022

I think you’ve got an idea for a challenge there! Song the fine print on your insurance docs. Haha! Thanks for the comment. There will be some changes to it but I shan’t be dissecting it too far. :)

  • @tuesdaygray Feb 2022

    Thanks for your kind words!

  • @mikeb  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen and comment on my week 1 challenge song!

  • @tukayandryan  Feb 2022

Wow. Thank you for such kind words on Temporal Drifter. Now I'm blushing

  • @stephentanner  Feb 2022

Thanks for the mention on the recommendation feed. Really appreciate that.

  • @tseaver  Feb 2022

Thanks for the listen on my "Whistle Pig." You could definitely be right about the uke: we've moved house recently, and I only pulled it out and tuned it in the new studio for the first time in months this morning.

  • @donna  Feb 2022

Jeff, I added a bit to my comment on 'Grieving'.

  • @stephentanner  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind words Jeff. Lyrics look good, i look forward to hearing the song.

  • @andygetch  Jan 2022

Hi Jeff, good to see you here again!
